    Wow.

I know this has been around for a while, and I'd heard about it, but this is the first time I've actually researched it and seen this video. A lot of you have probably already seen it.

It's for SPORE, Will Wright's new game (rumored for PC first, then XBOX 360 and Mac later) about...well, pretty much everything. This looks absolutely incredible. The scope of this game is mind-boggling.

It's grainy, and 35 mintues long, but damn...it is well worth it to see it through. Every thing I was thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if..." pretty much happens as it goes along.

I'm excited. Hopefully it doesn't get screwed up between now and release.

Yeah, I've been waiting for this game ever since I saw the first pics. It's friggin awesome looking. I'll be picking it up when it comes out. Oh, I also saw a video of the game that's like 1 hour long, I'll look for it.

I saw a video of Will Wright's keynote speech from GDC in my Survey of Interactive Entertainment class.

I watched him demonstrate Spore and I was like "OH MY GOD. Give me this game NOW!"

I think he talks about that in the very end...wanting to make a better galactic conquest endgame or some such. Also, I figure they've been tweaking EVERYTHING and adding more, hence the delayed release as well.

And, judging by that video, I'll never be able to run it on my computer, smoothly or otherwise. :(

    Absolutely AMAZING.

Wow. What an incredible scope of a game. Millions of people will fail out of college because of this.

I thought it was going to be a PC only game. I was pissed about that too because there is no way in hell that game would run on my PC. I'll be getting it for 360 and losing anything I had that resembled a social life.

My question is, will the game on the 360 require Live? He states that the rest of the universe around you is molded by the creations of other players and is updated (great idea, by the way) ... so what about those with no internet or no Live?

    The perfect tagline for Spore:

"The Game To End All Games."

It looks like the importance of Internet/Live doesn't come into play until you reach an intergalactic scale. Spore is designed to have an enthralling single-player experience right up to the point where you're managing your own star system - and then, if you have the means, you can interact with galaxies created by other players. Fucking galaxies.

Either Will Wright or Sid Meier needs to become a woman so those two can have babies.

    I can dig that.

We need more people like those two. People who will push the envelope to create something new, fun, and addicting!

Each time he zoomed out to the next scale ... it was like you saw it coming, the audience saw it coming, but up until he actually pulled back, no one could really believe that it could actually be done on that scale.

I gasped with the rest of the crowd, I let out a few "oh shiiiiit" remarks, I was amazed.

I think some of my favorite parts were:

    - Mating complete with cheesy music
    - giving the tribes spears
    - giving tribe a drum and tribal dance
    - Close encounters bit complete with his response
    - Abduction of the predator and dropping it off.

The game looks so freakin amazing..

Probably one at most. One of the things Wright was talking about was doing everything procedurally(sp?). Meaning small, precise code that does a lot in a little space. I think he mentioned Krieger(sp?) the FPS that was like 96kb or something like that in comparison. Under a meg in file size and looked pretty good.

Definitely looking forward to Spore ever since they announced it. Just one more reason to hurry up and get a new PC.
