...pity I still hate and despise Joel Boblit for that time he pretty much tried to rip me off on a trade-in this year.
I'm pretty sure Joel and his staff are thought of rather highly here and throughout the fandom so maybe you should explain what happened?
Actually, don't. This thread isn't the place for it.
Apparently most of the Takara reissues are still classified as New despite some being released over three years ago. So buyer beware. Lame.
I got the email this morning too, I also got an email from taotoysonline.com about cyber monday, has anyone purchased anything from that website before?
90% mostly useless sale. I got excited and then disappointed by how pretty much everything I am interested in is still marked as new.
Beware if you click on a clearance item and fail to see it still being marked as new.
Anyway, nice try at cashing in on the internet's equivelant of black friday. Maybe next year will be better? I hope so because I typically like BBTS...
I want to, their sale is what a sale SHOULD be.
I made a thread about them in the toyark to get some feedback.
Amazing how much old stuff is new all of a sudden.
Including a toy I bought for myself LAST Christmas.
This sale is a big *YAWN*. Where else than bigbadtoystore when you see 2 year old toys as new?
I know! I mean, I thought the point of a sale was to actually get rid of things, then I see that everything I was waiting to buy during the next sale is back up to NEW status.
Doesn't make sense
Yup - Everything I want is 'new', even the really old stuff
I feel dirty for looking and BBTS just got -5 on my respectability scale.
Yeah, way too many things marked"NEW" when they are clearly not, but I bought two of the Soundwave Hard Hero Busts for $12 each. That is a pretty good deal, even if its one of the less attractive busts.
I share the sentiments of "wtf is up with all this old stuff marked as 'new'".
And that's not just Transformers. It's GI Joes, MotU, and McFarlane figures. Those are the big ones I collect.
Maybe it's new stock to BBTS?
So it's new relative to them, but I would still buy "new" stuff at BBTS at market price, because they will actually do something if you received a defective product. So, there you go - go to BBTS for stuff you can buy at other sites at around the same price. They do have RAH Kerebros for $100. That is reasonable if u like that sort of Panzer - WW2 soldier thing.
Other websites such as t_______.com will not offer any sort of reimbursement/repair/replacement if you have, say, a broken MP Skywarp wingtip. You won't even get a response through e-mail!
seriously, has this happened to you with t_________.com?
No kidding. I was very disappointed to log on and see that practically EVERYTHING was somehow "new."
There are all kinds of online stores that will do that. I can't say from experience that taotoysonline would, but if you have no experience with them, you can't claim they won't.
Looks like I missed out on their encore sale, all of their stuff sold out in less than an hour.
I just bought their Music Label White Soundwave for $53 out the door. It was on sale for $45 (opened package but complete). That was worth the sale vs. paying over $100 for the same item.
I do think they should define what they consider to be "New" vs. "Old". Personally, in regards to TFs, anything older than 3 months should be considered "Old". It just seems that they always point out that they have TONs of stock, but they're not quick to put sales prices on them for a limted period of time. Today and Friday for "X" amount of hours (12 hours, 8 hours, 4 hours).
Had they gone this route, I belive they would have made a killing on sales. I still suppport their site an all (Especially Pile of Loot which was a great move on their part), but things like this would definately help them.
Off my soapbox I go.
Still waiting for Battle Unicorns to go below $6 (plus $7.50-ish shipping). There's a reason those things are STILL on the cyber-shelves....
