...amongst young women, wtf?
Ha ha ha ha ha.
My wife loves Sponge Bob, but she's not a Japanese woman.
Not a big surprise at all. Japanese people seem to love American cartoons. Some of the most popular cartoon characters in japan include Snoopy and Tom & Jerry.
you didnt read the article.
apparently, they specifically targeted a niche market amongst young jpnese women who are seen as trendsetters, i.e. they used a deliberate strategy.
songebob is infiltrating.
I would say that at least shows they have some good people in marketing and research. They could have jumped in to the mainstream right off and wiped out, instead they're making headway in a potentially tough market.
So, if they target woman, is the show being sponsored by the contraceptive sponge?
I know some young women who also love Spongebob.
And others who find him creepy as hell.
I wish Spongebob would die. Why must they keep perpetuating this idiocy? Why?!
"I'm sorry, I'd sleep with you but you're just ehhh not Spongebob worthy"
I like spounge bob.
I think it is witty and in most cases funny.
the show is abt a sponge.
living in a pineapple house.
Transformers is about transforming robots from outer space, looking for energy in the form of cubes.
just as reasonable?
Oh yeah, something I forgot to mention about the Snoopy thing. He's also extremely popular with Japanese women.
There was an episode of Spongebob my wife showed me where him and his friend learned to curse (it was always covered by a loud noise) that had me rolling on the floor.
Not a fan of Spongebob, but then again I haven't watched that much of it.
I just can't get used to that character. Thought it was a cultural difference but it must be an age thing What's wrong with Hello Kitty?
Thats the first episode I sat through all of. They censored the cursing by using a ship's horn sound effect that episode was brilliant
