Bumblebee has been one of the most popular Charater in most Generation 1 Media, such as he played a huge role in Marvel comics, was the longest surviving autobots in the G1 cartoon. However his role was rather childish. In IDW comics continuity,Bumblebee underwent a period of maturity and was one of the major character in the comics alongside Prime,Prowl,Magnus and Rodimus.

Sure he also got his position as a leader but eventually he died after convincing Megatron to stop taking brute force as a solution to all problems.

What are your thoughts about the character's death?

Well, another helpful tip would be to post this in the Comics section.

    Welcome to TFW!

Well, I'll comment asuming this will get moved to the comics forum, and the title will be edited to hide spoilers.

I think Bee's death was timely. They did a few neat things with him struggling with what his power meant, and if other bots took him seriously. Kinda like what Roddimus Prime went through in the original cartoon, but a little more plausible, because it was Bumblebee.

By the end though, be it by design or not, I was getting a little tired of his character arc. It seemed like they were kinda going over the same stuff, without any progress being made. So it seemed right to at least shift focus away from him. (And lets be honest here, it's a comic book, he might come back.)

Oh. I'm sure he'll come back. His body was left behind in the singularity that was formed. That's just begging to be used in some way to come back. Timey wimey stuff. I have no doubt his death is temporary.

Amusingly, I could also see his body becoming one with the singularity and becoming Unicron. Because he will wish to destroy everything we love as we have come to know Bumblebee to do in recent years.

His death is not permanent, that much is a given though. As per common rules of this. If you don't see the body he isn't dead. It'd be a shame for him to come back though. Comics have been pulling that punch forever and it's just bleh by now. "Hey! Look, he's dead! OH WAIT A COUPLE MONTHS FROM NOW HE'S ALIVE! *Insert Deus ex Machina here.*" We have Superman to blame for this habit. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PlwDbSYicM

Did he at least die painlessly?

    ....

    To shreds you say?

Why is every 'Batman' I've seen recently linking to Arkham City?

    Spoilers for Dark Cybertron.

He was shot through the back by Shockwave in Dark Cybertron Pt. 11. Bumblebee and Megatron were debating what to do with Galvatron, Meg's wanted to kill him, but Bumblebee seeing that Meg's was trying to change, was telling Megatron to give him a chance like he was giving him one, and that everyone is stronger together than apart. Which was when Shockwave promptly blasted him from behind with a super lazer and murdered him.

I tough that it was great because BB's character finished his story and it just didn't have anywhere left to go plus it swerved as great beginning of other plot points.

Since his body was sucked into the vortex it leaves a chance that a future writer might bring him back (because that's comic books for you) but I think that Bee is going to stay dead as long as the current writing team is on.

No one's going to mention how everyone was rolling their eyes and going "yep, definitely Rodimus gonna be the one to die" (including me?)

    :lol

I thought BB made the most sense to get the axe in story terms (Rodimus definitely second-most), but a lot of us just figured Hasbro wouldn't go for it.

This is BB's second death ever right? The first was in Devil's Due's GIJoe vs. Transformers yes?

I think they did as much as though could with IDW Bumblee, story-wise. I think the next sensible step was to kill him off.

It's funny you say this, just yesterday I was thinking how similar Bumblebee and Unicron heads were. Yellow, horns. If 'Bee grew a goatee, it would be all over.
