Hi everyone. I'm not a big poster on here, but I'm on this site a fair bit checking out the awesome news.

Sorry if something like this has been mentioned before, but I was just wondering how reliable you think wikipedia is as a source of info on Dark of the Moon. My main reason for checking was that I read something by accident on there, due to there not being any spoiler warnings that has really bummed me out!

So yeah, please say it's mostly garbage on there!

I don't know, the stuff about Sentinel Prime is taken directly from the novel so, who knows. Though it could be different in the movie, we'll just have to wait and see.

    :'(

Not only is that upsetting, I'm really pissed that I found out by total accident when I've been trying to avoid spoilers this time round.

Here's a handy guide for Wikipedia reliability without the worn out "Wikipedia is unreliable" comments:

A good Wikipedia article cites its sources. General statements like "the sky is blue" don't have to be sourced, but the more likely something can be put into question, the more necessary is it to cite a source. The source needs to be "reputable". This has become the cause for a series of very tedious arguments behind the scenes, because many "mainstream" Wikipedia editors don't consider a source "reputable" unless it's the New York Times or a scientific publication, whereas people who are actually familiar with the article's subject insist that a particular source is totally reputable in the given context.

However, if a Wikipedia article cites a source, check the source and make sure it actually states what the Wikipedia article claims it does. If it does, the Wikipedia article is correct in this particular instance. That's how it works.

If a Wikipedia article contains controversial information you never heard before, and it doesn't cite a source to back it up, it's a reasonable decision to disregard the claim in question.

It's not rocket science, but it's also not "Wiki is always lie LOL".

I went back and had a read through to see if any sources were cited, and found another spoiler about Sentinel Prime that I did NOT want to read... Lesson learnt: reliable or not, I'm avoiding it 'til the movie's out.

The source would be the novel, comic adaptation or other books.

Personally I don't really care about that.
It's not like Ironhide was a fleshed out character in the movies, so he won't really be missed.
    I'm just wondering if
his death will be rushed and pointless like Jazzes, or if it will actually have a deep impact.

I'm guessing pointless, because that's what we've come to expect from Bayformers so far.

I feel like my post is like an FBI document now with all of the black outs. LOL!

There are so many people that say this, but Wikipedia can be a very good source of quick information if an entry is valid and has the sources to back it up.

Hey, I did a lot of work on several Transformers-related articles on the German Wikipedia. All of them with proper sourcing. It's only when an article is written as a wall of text that makes a lot of factual claims without any footnotes that eyebrows should really be raised.

Having a glance at the article history and the talk page may also help to identify questionable additions.

Of course, that may be too much asked of the "hay guys I read on Wiki is it true?!?!?!?" crowd.

Just stick to TFWiki.net. More info, more accuracy, more reliable and no spoilers.

Fuck me. I'm sorry you had to read those budd. I didn't post it,
but they are indeed true. The sources, if not listed on Wikipedia, are the official novelization and the movie adaptation comic
. Someone go take those down before everything goes to shit.

    WARNING: Do not go to
    Sentinel Prime or Ironhide's page
if you do not want to read the largest spoiler of the movie.

Ironhide's death, if the movie does it the same way as in the book, will have meaning,
as it shows just how much
    Sentinel's betrayal affects everyone.
