Spiderman 2.1 dvd (Now with Spider Jameson pics)

I found this at Walmart the other day. Just started watching and am about halfway through. It has about 8 extra minutes of new scenes. Some slightly longer ones. So far I noticed:

    - longer scene with Spidey and Hal Sparks, Hal tries to sell marketing ideas to spidey
    - little bit more on Spidey and Doc Ock's fight after the bank robbery. Basically the crash through a window and have about 30 more seconds of fighting in an office.
    - A little more of an end to when Parker fails to deliver the pizza on time. No biggie there.
    - a scene between MJ and a friend talking about her engagment and if she really loves John.

    and the best scene yet....

    - Jameson wearing the discarded spidey suit pretending HE is spidey! It is priceless!!!

Also if you get it at Walmart ($13) you get a nice little 13 min dvd about Spidey 3. Nothing big but a nice look at the villains and such.

Now I gotta get back to the movie!

Check my latest post for the Jameson pics..

I hate the idea of thse 1.5 or 2.1 DVDs. I was suckered into the X-men one and it sucked. I will not be suckered into Spiderman ones.

Even though I want ot see jameson as Spidey.

I wasn't thinking of getting this just for 8 minutes but I may get it tomorrow just to see Jameson wear the Spider-Man suit.

I'll get it. I held off on buying Spidey 2 because I expected this.

Jameson in the spidey suit alone is worth the $12...

Damn my local Wal mart not putting their sale prices up. I saw it Tuesday and would have gotten it if I knew it was on sale. It can go with the 3 copies/versions of Spiderman 1 and the other two copies of Spiderman 2 I have.

I hate these releases and will never buy one. They sell it with extra footage that you know they had when the original DVD was released, but held back so they can try to sell you the same fucking movie again.

This is even worse than the way the LOTR DVDs were released. The regular versions were released before the deluxe (but with a release date for the deluxe one) because they knew many people would still buy the regular release because they didn't want to wait for the deluxe version. That way they could sell many people the same movie twice, as with this 1.5, 2.1 crap.

The LotR Dvds were quite different then most double dips. First we were made aware of the extended editions before the standard dvds were released. Second (which holds true for most extended releases) they had to go back and do a lot of work to get the extra scenes into the Extended Editions on top of still editing the other movies.

Just because they had the footage doesn't mean they had the time to do all the technical things to have it ready in time for the initial DVD release. IGN also had an interview up with Sam Raimi before the initial Spiderman 2 dvd was released where he said the studio wanted him to go back and edit some cut parts back in for a 2.5 release. Its a way to get people who might not have picked up the original releases as well as give the fans something extra.

My wife would love it. She thinks Jameson's the best part of the movie.

All I can think of when I see Jameson is him raping Tobias Beecher, burning the nazi symbol on his ass, and generally being an ariyan prick.

But then again, I have been re-watching him again in "Oz" lately.

I'd only get a 1.5, or 2.1, or whatever if I didn't already own the original. And while I don't have SM2 on DVD, it was on TV here last Sunday. ;)

This sort of thing has been going on for years now. I honestly don't understand why anybody buys the initial, bare bones release of big films they want to own. I always wait. Of course, I'm still waiting for a perfect Kill Bill set, but I only had to wait a short while for the amazing Sin City edition that was released.

Too bad Sint City actually watches better in it's original form.

You get both options on the big set. Theatrical, and the linear plot version.
