With my recent venture back into the world of comic book reading, I've taken an interest in reading about my favorite characters. I enjoy reading about Miles Morales in the Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, but after reading "The Death of Spider-Man" I want more Peter Parker stories to read. I realize I'm essentially going backwards here, but it's managed to really spark my interest.

I'm not interested in trying to track down the entire Amazing Spider-Man run because that'd be close to impossible, but can any of you Marvel readers suggest some of the best TPB for a good Spider-Man story?

    Thanks in advance!

My suggestion to you good sir will be the following title:

"Spider-Man Blue" Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale

Great story if you like early Peter Parker when he had just met MJ along with falling in love with Gwen.

I'll second that. This story's been a lot of fun.

You could do a lot worse than finding collections of the original Lee/Ditko stuff, too.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoy the current "Marvel Adventures Spider-Man."

I KNOW I'm in the minority here, but I actually liked the Clone Saga, and NOT just because of Ben Reily... (But he helped)

You can find collections of the classic Spider-Man tales in Trade Paperback or Hardcovers.

My faves are Kraven's Last Hunt, Birth of Venom. I also enjoyed the Gauntlet and Big Time.

As for Ultimate Spider-Man, start from the beginning (unless you've read them all)

I'm gonna receive a lot of hate for this, but I actually like One More Day. It's a great story on its own, if you can remove the fanboy hate of Peter Parker being very out of character. Essentially, it's a very well-told story, but not a very good Spider-man story.

    Other than that,

The Last of Hunt of Kraven is very awesome.
Late 80s Spider-man that introduced Venom.
Maximum Carnage is classic 90s inter-universe crossover stuff.
    JMS' early Amazing Spider-man run.
And the classic Lee/Ditko issues are a must.

I REALLY like the "Civil War / One More Day" issue of What If? (wish that was still ongoing). It was one of those What Ifs that absolutely made me wish it was the direction they had taken and wanted to see where that story would have gone. It was a much better finale to Civil War for Spiderman, even though there would have been some jail time...

I recommend snagging yourself "Big Time", which is the first collection of the book following its shift from thrice-monthly to twice-monthly earlier this year, which begins Dan Slott's run as the regular writer. Amazing Spidey is some of the best its been in years at the moment, and "Big Time" is the moment to jump on.

I agree. It's just too bad they had to precede it with OMD. IMO they could have left Peter married and still had these great stories. Just some minor tweaking would be needed...

Don't read O.M.I.T. and you'll be just fine.
