Either Al Gore is revealed to be a Doombot or something in the next panel, or the writer (and, in turn, the editorial staff at Marvel) is trying to shoehorn politics into a comic book.

And we all know that no comic can be political -- except Watchmen.

Well it does look like Al's cheek is torn a bit in the last panel...

    Chameleon.

It seems much more likely that they'll have some other reason like the suit is making him crazy or he's being mindcontrolled or some other stupid comic book reason for it and it'll just send him into another guilt spiral until he makes a deal with the devil to undo it in exchange for some act of justice he performed or a kidney or something.

You forgot the part about Al Gore's fanatical EPA followers threatening the life of Aunt May.

Nah, more likely they'd just have Aunt May disappointed instead

"Oh, that AWFUL Spider-man! Doesn't he know how hard Al Gore has fought for seniors like me? I hope they throw him in jail!"

Then Mayor JJ Jameson calls a press conference to tell everyone how much of a menace he is, and that he should be thrown in jail.

Wow...I think we should write for Marvel.

The story line so far is pretty cool. Spiderman has been hording plans and weapons for each of his villains. Hence the new suit to take on doc ock. I can't wait to see the outcome. This newer run of Spiderman since the 640's or so has been very interesting. I used to hate Spiderman until now.

I hope that turns out to be a Doombot or something... It'd be pretty stupid of Spidey to punch a real politician in the face, even if they are being duped into helping Doc Ock build a doomsday device.

The next panel has Al Gore mutating into a monstrous being that is part man, part bear, and part pig. Thor and Spider-Man do battle with him.

Once they defeat him, the beast separates into 3 parts: a bear, a pig, and a naked Al Gore. The bear tries to eat them but Thor kills it with his hammer. Al Gore, upon realizing what has happened to him, is red in the face and equally embarrassed in front of everyone. We learn the fusion of the 3 beings was a trick done by Loki. Spider-Man adopts the pig and it hangs with him at home. However, this is short lived when weeks later, Deadpool notices the pig and lures it away with carrots, captures it, and takes it to a local butcher. After feasting on a delicious plate of bacon, Deadpool's door explodes off it's hinges and goes flying into a wall. Peter stands in the doorway, full of anger and hellbent on revenge. He confronts Deadpool and after putting two-and-two together, butchers Wade like he had butchered the pig, stuffs his mutilated body into the apartment's oven, places his talking severed head in the microwave, sets it, and leaves Wilson to "stir in his own juices." As gruesome and painful as it would be for Deadpool, Peter knew the Merc would eventually recover.

At this rate of nonsense, we probably could.
