I hope they cast an ACTUAL TEENAGER. I'm tired of 35 year olds playing high school/college students. In order for me to get into this reboot, it needs to be fresh faces all around. Right or wrong, Tobey is the live action Spider-Man in my mind and I need an unkown to get it out of there.

I'm for a reboot, if only to get the sour taste out of my mouth that was Spider-Man III. I liked the first two, though.

I actually agree with the studio nixing Vulture as the main villain. Boring.

I agree about rebooting with actual teenagers too.

I just read about it..not too sure what to think of it.

I'm all for a reboot, personally I'm hoping for something closer to Ultimate Spider-Man, but I don't think that will happen. But we'll see.

    I just hope it doesn't get super-gritty.

I hope so too. Lately I've been reading the Marvel Adventures Spidey comics. They're, of course, more kid-oriented than the main run, but I love how simplistic it is. I would like to see it resemble those somewhat in regards to how straight-forward they are.

Think there's any chance we might get a decent FF restart to match? *crosses fingers and hopes*

I thought the same thing when I was watching That 70s Show a few years back. He would have been perfect for the role.

He actually auditioned for Spider-Man but lost the role to Tobey.

I actually could see them doing something like that since it's looking like the Avengers film will be leaning towards the Ultimates style, with Samuel L Jackson's as Nick Fury.
Heck, I wouldn't be too surprised if we end up seeing Fury make a cameo in the reboot. Much like he showed up in the Ultimate Spidey comics.

I just hope that they don't do the "Hulk-Goblin" thing...Ick. Do Not Want.

That's primarily because Thomas Hayden Church can do more acting with his eyes than Topher Grace is apparently capable of at all.

Venom is a lot of things, not all things I like in a character, but he's certainly not a whining crybaby. He's an angry man, misplacing that anger towards Peter.

Really, I didn't bother to see III in the theater. When I did I concurred with most here, too cluttered, too busy, and too morose.

If Sony is keeping the franchise, and thus not merging it with the attempted shared Marvel Universe approach Marvel is trying to take with the buildup to Avengers, then I personally would like to see the reboot film drop us into an already-formed world, with existing super-villains, maybe a mention of other heroes, that sort of thing.

Almost everyone knows Spidey's origin, so a flashback over the credits a la the Hulk reboot (which I really rather enjoyed) would be fine. Let's see his world for a change. Start with him rounding up some loser like the Shocker or Beetle, then ease the audience into the current story naturally. It would be refreshing to see it develop organically from events as opposed to being awkwardly tied into his origin (like Sandman was).

Oh, and of course, a little wise-assing would be most welcome.

Don't count on it - Spider-Man movie rights are owned by Sony, along with the Fantastic Four and some others..Nick Fury & The Avengers on the other hand, are owned by Marvel.

As crazy as this all sounds, seeing as they're all Marvel characters, this prevents any of those characters from appearing in the Sony owned movies. It also prevents Marvel from using Spider-Man in their own movies until the rights expire.

On paper, it would be the perfect opportunity for Nick Fury to appear :(

As for the Goblin: wouldn't mind a more original Goblin. I can see why people wouldn't like the Ultimate version. Just hope he won't have that crazy hi tech suit, though. :)

Eh, I suppose. Since I really don't know how all the legal mumbo jumbo behind it works, I'll just have assume that's true.

as much as he would be the best person to do Spidey...i cant see him being him in the reboot.

It'll be too much confusion...and some might think he still is Venom seeing in the comic books right now, Venom is running around as the Dark Avenger's Spider-Man, black costume and all.

    Thoughts:

1: As long as it's Peter Parker in year 3 as Spiderman. I'm okay with the whole High School aspect
2: If you want to restart a villian from a previous film. Not Venom but Doc Ock. Save Venom for movie 3 (do it right this time!)
3: If you want a new villian. Start with Chamelon. His first actual villian in the comics.
4: Gwen Stacy, not Mary Jane Watson.
5: Can we have a more sarcastic Spidey full of one liners. Unlike Maquire's "monotone" spidey.
