I found myself quite eager to see the image after reading the title, but it left me somewhat disappointed. I would prefer a sleek black suit, no webbing or real texture to it.
Yeah... I'm not so hot on this. While I'm waiting for the black costume/Venom story to go, this just looks like the photographer forgot the color film.
Agreed. Shoudln't have the webbing or texture. Should be smooth and bitch black.. With white spider logo..
Agreed. I pictured that myself as I click on the link. Still awesome to see that the black suit is out.
I think I need new pants... THough I agree on the texture, maybe the symbiote has a different concept. Maybe it just adapts to existing clothes rather than become them. This would just turn the Spidey suit black rather than create a new one. Also, it beats the hell out of the current costume.
I really question if that isn't just a black and white pic. The picture is too dark to tell for sure, no matter what the site says. I'll reserve complete judgement till I see more pics, but currently I am not impressed.
Not bad. I'm actually more interested in what's reflected in his eye. I can't make anything out even when you blow it up to full size.
Well as I said in the other thread, I was hoping it would look, black. Maybe with a white spider symbol. More sleek. From at least this pic it just looks like his regular costume, in grey. Underwhelming so far.
I don't really have an opinion on Spiderman having a black costume in this movie, but couldn't the costume designer have worked a bit harder on the new look? I'm getting Subzero/Scorpion vibes here. Also, I'm still rather doubting that the suit is black for story purposes. Maybe it's a scene filmed in the dark, and it was more dramatic to put Tobey into a black-colored suit. Kind of like how Neo wears trenchcoats of different length and cloth for different scenes, but you're supposed to pretend they're all the same coat. The reflection in the eye looks a lot like Venom's white spider symbol to me, but it's so unclear, I'm not entirely sure of myself. Lastly, I heard someone guess that this is actually a picture of Venom. His "evidence" was that you don't see this man's mouth/chin, and he guessed that in the trailer or in the movie, he moves his arm aside and you see the big-ass teeth and tongue. I'm not saying I agree with this theory, but it's an interesting one. If it's indeed Topher Grace playing Venom, the body type doesn't look too off (EG, it clearly isn't a guy of Stallone's dimensions inside that suit). However, if this guy's guess is right, my original assessment still holds: someone at the costume department has been LAZY in adapting Venom's look to the big-screen.
wha? the original black costume's way better. especially those white patches on the hands. black is the new black.
I don’t find it hard to imagine the studio being resistant to them changing the costume at all being afraid of confusing/ upsetting the main stream audience that my not have any idea there was a black costume before. My guess is painting the old suit black was a compromise.
Cheer up, emo spidey. And I definately have no idea whats on his eye. I also don't see any symbol on his chest, or anything.
I don't know, something closer to the original would have been nice, yeah, but this is just a promo photo so it might ultimately end up looking pretty good when we see it in action. Who knows right? Either way, I like the photo a lot. Pretty nice shot.
