I'm not sure how this... ...would be useful in cases like the one in the article, since... Genetic testing would be a lot more useful to catch people with the potential for the disease who are asymptomatic.
If you think about it, it's not just the kid who suffers. The parents who needed to have artificial insemination done to have the pregnancy due to one reason or another will likely never have kids again anytime soon due to the trauma. Plus the donor guy has to deal with SOME kind of emotional stress seeing as though 9 of his kids died at around roughly the same time space.
^Eh the species would do better without artificial insemination, unless super elite gattaca-esque children were being created via that method. This is hardly an example of the world going in the shitter.
