    Hi guys, it's SpeedFreak here, this time to show you some Classics-style redesigns of the Combaticons.

    First up is Vortex;
    vortex.jpg
    He turns into an Apache attack helicopter. I experimented on him to find new techniques of shading- did it work?

    Here's an improved version of Vortex, with a shorter pizza-cutter;

    Here's the lineart for Brawl;
    brawl 002.jpg
    He turns into the ever-so-original Abrams.

    And here's some lineart for a Bots of Honor Brawl I submitted to the project; unfortunately, I submitted it at a time when they didn't need any more artists. :(

    Here's the lineart for Onslaught;
    onslaught.jpg
    He turns into a Mack flatbed truck, similar to DOTM Megatron's tanker truck altmode, sans tank.

    Comments and crits much appreciated!
    Stay tuned for more Combaticons!

    Hmm, intersting work you got here, like the lines in general, and i see some inspirations from other molds, but the arm kinda ruins it for me ):

    What do you mean by that? I quite like the arm. Anyway, it's just a detatchable weapon. He can store it behind his back when he doesn't have to torture/interrogate anyone.

    :lol  Nice, and if the Combaticons ever disband he can get a job slicing pizzas for the Ninja Turtles.

    I really like this. It reminds me a lot of the HftD Tomahawk. Perhaps a custom of this is in your future? :)

    Hm...It's a great idea! As soon as my exams are out of the way, I'll start kitbashing, and the Combaticons are pretty high on my list!

    This is clearly vortex and the drawing isn't bad either but the one thing that I can't get is "Why is the back of the copter on his arm?" That just seems odd. I can understand have the tail rotar as a weapon just not the whole copters rear end.

    It's not the whole rear of the helicopter, it's just the tail rotor. Apaches have relatively long tail rotors compared to the rest of the chopper.

    Hey I've come to give my thoughts and ideas for this picture.
    Now I know you're like me, and when people give you tips you wont necessarily go back and change them, but these are things you can apply to future pieces. I understand what some people mean by the tail arm, and I'm not opposed, nor do I disagree with them. It's biggest problem really is the skewed angle. If that last bit of tail had accordianed into the rest of the tail, making it shorter and less bent... well then we have quite a fearsome weapon. Besides that, all I can say is just keep at it. Work on lines especially. I don't know how you're drawing this, but stages are important starting in a rough sketch and then slowly fining up the details. You're sense of lighting is good, perhaps a few more tones, and eventually you might want to experiment with different angles and try 3-D perspectives (I know, two years ago I was doing strait forward too ;)  ) So go at it! That being said, very emotive picture and I like it a lot!

    Thanks for the feedback, Tedimus, as I speak I'm trying to improve Vortex's arm.
    Also, concerning the shading, could you give me a few pointers? I'm just getting the hang of GIMP and I would really appreciate some help.

    Hey guys, I looked at your feedback, and shortened Vortex's blade/torture device/pizza cutter somewhat. Enjoy!

    The next Combaticon I'll do will probably be Brawl.

    Hey guys, I've just finished my lineart for Brawl. Colours will come soon!
    brawl 002.jpg
    Also, here's a design for a "Bots of Honor" Brawl I submitted to the project. However, I submitted it too late, and I couldn't be a part of the project. :(

    Enjoy!

    Just one quick query for everyone;
    I'm thinking of some designs for Blast Off, but I'm not sure what vehicle to draw him as. I'm not going to do a space shuttle, because of the scale problems, but I have yet to find a suitable plane. Can anyone help me out?

    Hey guys, I'm currently working on the flats for Brawl. (BTW, thanks to all those people who helped me with my colouring problem!)

    However, I'm not sure what colour Brawl's head should be.
    Should he be (from left to right): A: G1 toy w/ red eyes B: G1 toy or C: Cartoon?

    Hi again guys, I've finished the flats for Brawl-though I may need to do a bit of cleaning up. Shading will commence soon!
    Despite the overwhelming amount of feedback I recieved, I'm still not sure what colour Brawl's head should be. I've narrowed it down even further; red eyes or orange eyes? You decide!
