I'm not sure if this is exactly the proper forum, but here goes.

IGN posted some Character Portraits from the Spectacular Spider-man.
    Let the hate begin.

    Personally, I like it.
I saw the preview on Kids WB this weekend and I was very impressed.

Looks fine to me. Is it by the same studio as The Batman?

I'll give its first season a go, probably.

Atleast Brock is a big tank instead of a scrawny kid.

I like the looks of it so far.

Every cartoon looks the same now. I used to make fun of how all anime characters had the same face and different, stupid hair, but this is just garbage.

They simplify the designs like this so the Korean studios will charge less. Man, don't get me started on Korean studios.

I hate everything the animation industry has become.

Hmm, not bad. I'll give it a chance before I make my final judgement.

    Really?
So do you actually prefer the old Funimation Batman to The Batman?

How about Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue compared with the old Scooby Doo show?

I'm with RandomFerret..can't stand this overall style.

Had to look up the second one (blech), so that'd be a resounding yes on both counts.

I don't care for them, but it could be worse. It seems some American cartoons cater to a eastern style to appeal to kids that are into the pokemon, and whatever other crap is on TV.

Simplification isn't bad, I just don't want to see designs sellout to a fad. I think Timm's run on DC animated series is an example of that.

This is a pipe dream, but I would like to see someone like Don Bluth come in and do an animated series like this.

Not too bad, they definitely look different from any other Spidey animated project I've seen. Brock looks a little too friendly in that pic though. If the caption wasn't there, I would've said that was Flash Thompson.

And Gwen Stacy's in this show? I'll be curious to see how they handle that.

Ok, you know what? Anyone that says this is like Japanese animation just does not know what they're talking about.

Sad, but for american action cartoons, far too true.

I prefer Batman:TAS over Funimation Batman and The Batman. Both poorly done in their own way.

True, when designs sellout to a fad you get stuff like Transformers: Animated :p  (Sorry, just a personal thought stemming from another thread).

Anyway, I'm a huge Spidey fan so I'll check it out for sure. A new Spidey show is always worth a look. However right off the bat I dislike the look/style of the show. Cheek's work has never done it for me, and I think it downright ruined the Hellboy animated films. This style doesn't work equally well for everything, and while it works better for Spidey then Hellboy, it's still not a look I prefer.

And yeah, while there may be shades of "Anime" influencing the artists style it's a look that comes far more out of Bruce Timm's style but watered down and recirculated.

My son is SO excited about this. So, I guess we'll be watching it. I don't have a preference one way or the other about the designs, but he's a Spider-man nut and loves them, so there you are. Five year olds love it (or at least one does).
