I think the Target is on there because of their sponsorship. The back of the card says "Swipe card for access" That makes sense for a room key, not for a gift card.

The hotel room doors work with keycards? Cool, high-tech.

If by high-tech, you mean something that's been standard for about 15 years! LOL

I took a trip to Europe a few years ago and was shocked when they actually gave me a metal key!

Given their rates, I oughta have a helper monkey assigned to me to open my door for me with the card.

Nice card and true, room cards have been around a long time. In one of my past careers in the late eighties I was a night supervisor in Hotel Security. Now I do Network Security, it pays a whole lot better. :)

Go to ultra High tech Japan, and you will probably find the same. Metal keys at all of the dozens of hotels I have stayed at there.

I'm pretty sure they'll let you keep it. What's the point of having made these for the (X amount attendee) rooms, and just getting rid of it afterwards?

I don't think they're going to have too big of a problem losing a few (thousand) key cards. That's an advantage of plastic cards over metal keys, if you lose one you just need to de-activate the card. With a metal key you'd need to change the lock.

Bigger hotels usually do, they even dress em up in funny lil suits and hats.

It's more depending on the size of the hotel/motel usually then anything else. Some give cards, some give keys, both have the same affect.

Still, pretty cool lil bonus for goin to Botcon. Most hotels wouldn't bother with something like that.

You most likely can. If it is anything like Gencon last year(which had special keys too), you'll be able to.

Too bad I am staying at the Courtyard Marriott. I procrastinated and didn't get rooms right away.

Thank god they have added multiple hotels. I missed the first two!

I keep room key cards all the time - Not intentionally, I just forget to return them...

I'm sure you can keep them!

Maybe they double as gift cards?

Nice little extra there. I don't know why they would need it back, who else would want a TF on there room key? I hope we get to keep them.
