The new episode of Russian web series "Transformers: Portal" has Stripes with a speaking role (voice actor isn't known at the moment, but they promised complete credits after the end of this series), which is the first time this Autobot tiger actually speaks something onscreen and probably the first time he appears in anything animated.

An interesting fact is that they recorded 3 different actors for him since they had no idea what he should sound like.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing this in comic form as a miniseries. The art's ready to go, if nothing else.

 

I really like these, they are well animated, but I wish I knew what they were saying.

 

Making a comic out of it would be hard, since every 2-minutes long episode tries throwing as much information as possible at the viewer. And episodes with Watcher would just look boring.

Story so far:
Episode 1: Bumblebee, Strongarm and Sideswipe from Robots in Disguise find some mysterious portal, but they can't get near it and Fixit informs them it's dangerous. Governments send some military troops, but they disappear. Human tech also doesn't work near the portals. Bumblebee decides that the situation is dangerous, so he tells the whole world about transformers and asks for help. Decepticons also hear the transmission.
Episode 2: A humanlike alien named Watcher (his name is in Japanese for some reason) tells you what he thinks about it.
Episode 3: Watcher shows you some one-step toys and different branded items, like pens.
Episode 4: Powermaster Optimus Prime contacts RID Bumblebee from another side of the portal, so it becomes clear it connects Generations universe (the same as in "The Power of Titan Masters" promo story, so this series serves like a prequel to it) and the version of Aligned from the RID2015 show. Optimus tells they have some angry Titans around and must calm them down before starting working on closing the portals. He also speaks of the titanmasters legend, so they combine their information to find them.
Episode 5: Watcher tells you what he thinks about it.
Episode 6: Autobots were able to find the titanmasters and calm down the Titans, so now they have time to think about the portals and start searching for their source.
Episode 7 (The current one): Autobots find missing military troops from episode 1 and send Protectobots to free them. They defeat and arrest Decepticon Horrorcons and free the humans. Blaster finds the biggest portal, and Stripes brings him an Insecticon's leg. They think this portal is the original one and was created by Shockwave. Meanwhile, RID Autobots are attacked by Scorponok and, for some reason, Kickback. After the battle Fixit finds out that there's another device powering up the portals.

 

So is this thing official or a fan project? Thinking the latter but not sure.

 

It is official (and the words in the end are an intentional lie). The creator is Marvelous Group marketing agency, which works with Hasbro on Transformers, Play-Doh, Nerf and other brands (but they're, obviously, not limited to just Hasbro). It's far from their first Transformers project, they started with Beast Hunters toyline (when nobody believed it's official, so they had to record a special video at Hasbro Russia's office to persuade them), but it's the first one with animated content. Usually, they just make a series of competitions with a very basic storyline (for example, Optimus Prime orders to collect all minicons and then transports them all into space to destroy them, because they're too powerful to live - and that's RID Optimus, not Bayformers one), but Age of Extinction one had a comic and stop-motion videos.

"Transformers: Portal" is so far their biggest and longest project (it started in early September and has at two more stages planned + several text stories to explore context), and according to what I know, Hasbro likes it enough to order the next project in a similar format. The project's website is "transformers-portal.ru", the official vkontakte page is also a part of the picture (most of the projects before only used the vk page and they can still be found there).

 

This is a cute idea to be honest.

The fact of Optimus Prime is voiced by russian voice actor Chonishvili Sergei Nozherievich.

 

Man, Russian Grimlock is the angriest sounding Transformer I have ever heard, which works for most Grimlocks, but not particularly RIDlock.

 

The voices are terrible. Why does Blaster sound like some growling monster?
And WUT, RID Optimus shot all minicons into space to die? How  is this official, it\'s so .... oh, yeah, forgot about Machinima and what they did to TF lore. Never mind then.

 

It's understandable, since in the dub of RID Grimlock has the same voice Megatron had in the dub of Prime.

Yeah, it is one of two moments from prior projects fans can't forgive them (the other is about spaceship being stuck in space), but "Portal" itself is as logical as it can become with the idea of suddenly appearing multiversal portals. Its biggest fault so far is Kickback attacking Autobots (his role was actually reserved for Saberhorn, but they had to change it to make the episode shorter).

 

Strongarm sounds like shes constantly talking down too me. Well thats another thing I got too add to the list
