I just saw this one on HLJ and HAD to gush about it. Pity I dont have the $400 or so for it. Still...3+ feet long. Automated turrets. Working lights. Sounds. To scale crew members. And it even has the rocket anchor.

I've seen it built on some other forum a few weeks ago.

    It's simply beautiful.

Was the US version of the show this was from called Star Blazers?

I seem to remember watching it on television when I was about 6 years old.

Yeah, the US version was indeed Starblazers. Dalong.net has a complete construction photoshoot of the Yamato, and boy if I had even close to enough money to spend on it I would buy one in a heartbeat.

I have never seen Yamato or Starblazers, never been interested in it, never been invovled in any way with that show. But dang, that model calls my name!! I'm a sucker for insanely complicated models.

If you haven't watched it you should be shot.

    Uchuuuusenkan Yaaaaamaaaaatooooo~!!!!

When I was a kid they rerun the show every morning during summer holidays. The movies were good, too, except for the one almost everyone dies.

The model is beautiful. I can't afford one or don't have the skill, but would love to see the built one in person...

Blah. The visual style bugs me. I don't like the way the people are drawn. Same as Queen Esmereldas (or whatever) and the Galaxy Train show.

I have about 6 episodes of the series left to watch, I really need to get around to that. That theme is awsome too, have it on my computer. Oh, and thankfully they retconned Farewell Yamato, because killing everyone off was just kind of dumb, plus it allowed for more seasons of the show.

Thanks pinoy78 for posting up the link. I should have done that, but laziness ensued.

Yeah I remember the later TV series. It was quite surprising to see the characters returning to life with no apparent reason given.

More off topic, but thinking about Yamato reminded me of those LP records. Back then (before videos were commonly available, kids) they recorded an anime movie on a 2 LP set. Only thing you could do to re-experience your favourite anime movie was to listen to them. I had some Yamato ones, along with 999...*misty-eyed due to an old age*

As a kid, I watched the show too. Unfortunately in my country it was dubbed in Mandarin. If I remembered correctly, we never got to the "violent" deaths and the show was simply cut short. Anyway, the model is a wonder...me thinks Bandai as a toy company is on a ROLL!

I've been catching up on eps on Youtube. I miss this show a lot, and it's interesting to see it unedited. I really wish we'd get a modern release with multiple eps and subtitles.

So you don't like the Matsumoto character designs?

Oh well. Different strokes for different folks.
