    If I remember correctly, the ship crashes.

    This also reminds me of the Liberator in the Blake's 7 series. That ship has a fate of doom as well, as it gets infected with some kind of cosmic green slime.

    I'm sorry.. I think my memory had the fate of the ship mixed up with the Scorpion in Blake's 7....even though I still vaguely recall a crash of the Space 1999 ship on moon surface ..I could be wrong though.
