Hey all in good fun man. This season (based on this episode) seems like its gonna be like those two or three seasons before season 19, not bad just forgettable.
I hear ya. It feels like it's one of those things where you'd have it on as background noise and not really pay much attention to it.
Yeah, but it still wasn't not better than season 19...at least not in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I loved the memberberries But to me, nothing beat the non PC stuff they had in season 19.
Finally got around to watching it this weekend... talk about a 'mash up'.. that went to sshheeet. Wasn't funny, a whole bunch of stupid tho.. just a waste of time. Recycled 'dey tuk ir jobz' ... They gotta 'bring it' better than this.
Last night's episode was a huge step up from that horribly unfunny season premiere. It felt much more like a real South Park episode. It had the humor, it had the satire, the gross out humor and they even threw in a song. It was also great to see some background characters get the spotlight for a change, especially since it was Tweek and Craig who are always funny. Also apparently Kenny died for the first time since the end of season 15. This actually made me excited for The Fractured But Whole.
Eh between the gory detail of the corpse, the trump thing returning and the fidget spinner reference and no real message other then everyone needs to get off their phones. The episode was so meh like I just couldn't get into the episode at all. There were some good things though like Tweek and Craigs relationship still going, the missile over tweeks house scene, the scenes with Eric and Heidi, the scene with the bumper car and PC principles parts. You know writing what I liked vs. what I didn't like I can see it had good parts its just that the bad parts outweighed the good parts just because of how bad they were. hmmm pointless gore and obnoxious modern day references family guy is that you? Some parts were better then last week some parts were worse.
So are we returning to seasons that aren't overarching like the previous few? Kinda feels that way, but this episode really felt like old South Park and I loved it for it. I don't know why I found it odd watching Tweek and Craig as a couple now. Still don't care for the relationship between Cartman and Heidi, it was tolerable in the previous season but I just don't care for it this season. Though I do find Cartman overreacting to be quite entertaining.
Ehhh... this one wasn't really a winner either... was kinda happy to see Tweeks back, always figure he's gonna have an caffeine overdose one day and they'll have his plot next to Kenny's.. About the best part of the Tweeks story was his cupcakes.. that was about the only time I LOL. The 'distracted driving' was too much, yeah, there have been kids killed in such a manner, but good lord, no need to show 1/2 of SP's child population wiped out. Bumper cars, nope, more like Kiddie Smashers SS. That was more sick than funny as well.. they try to distract us with Eric's Suicide threats, but again, more sick than funny. Obviously it's why real 4th graders shouldn't watch it.
The North Korea bits and President Garrison's tweet responses were pretty funny. Craig and Tweek embracing their being a couple was great, especially with Craig calling Tweek babe and hun. Cartman being more Cartman this season is welcome though his relationship with Heidi definitely has worn out most of the funny. The kids getting run over was amusing if a bit gratuitous (c'mon, this violence they show but they couldn't collapse Darryl's house and kill the Terk-Yer-Jerb guys last episode? I'm disappointed there), especially considering the underlying message (put down your smartphones and disconnect when doing something important and/or requiring concentration) was kinda muddled.
Certainly a step up, but I'm not quickly forgetting how gentle they were with the topic of [redacted due to the political nature of the topic].
Eh after how last season turned out because of politics I think you/we need to give them a break since they need to find their footing again. They're meant to be a comedic satire show not just politics. They need to find a way to do political jokes without being to heavy handed and they also need to learn to make funny episodes without compromising them since they're afraid to make people mad.(which is weird they're south park when did they care about pissing people off) what do you think they should have done about it out of curiosity?
All I'm going to say is that they were far too sympathetic to and easy on real life monsters last week. There's no way I can say anything else about it.
