First of all, no, it is not confirmed Soundwave will speak so I have not put a spoiler in the title. So if you haven't read the updated synopsis for Flying Minds, you can still turn back.

    Spoilers start here!

Anyway, wasn't it confirmed at one point that Soundwave would speak somewhere in season two? If so, one would expect him to say something really important.

In Flying Minds, it's almost confirmed that Trypticon will awake at least for an episode. So what if this was a cliffhanger for the end of Armada. The Cons accelerate the repairs on his brain and reactive him to destroy the Insecticons but once that's done, the Cons would want to use him to wipe out humanity and that's where Flying Minds takes off.

So what I'm getting at is what if Soundwaves first words in the show is a voice command to activate Trypticon? That could be pretty cool. Something like "Computer, activate program. Codename...... Trypticon".

So what do you think? Could those be Soundwave first words in the show?

The thing is that were quite a few times where Cons told Soundwave to speak in a *very* critical moment (Sick Mind, One Shall Rise 3), and yet ... Soundwave chose not to.

I don't think that Soundwave will ever speak. And if he does, it will be on a show-shattering moment. Like, REALLY shattering, Unicron-got-s*&t-on-this-scene shattering.

And even if Wave speaks, I'm pretty sure he won't sound like his G1 counterpart, in grammar and syntax anyway.

It was mentioned before he would speak and have more time or a bigger role.

Suggest, you turn into SoundWave and speak yourself. After such a treatment.

Every interview I've seen posted, the writers always say, "IF we have Sounwave speak..."

No, he still seems to be quiet. I always wondered if he can talk, why doesn't he say anything?.

I kinda like Soundwave being silent, myself. It gives him a further air of mystery. I just wish he had more screen time. :(

This. Being quiet isn't bad, especially if you speak with your actions. But when you don't act, it hurts your image.

Bumblebee got some eps for himself. Time to go to the Evil Ninja now.

(shrugs) Doesn't want to. Maybe he dislikes the sound of his voice? Maybe he thinks that any word someone utters is information to be used against him, so he doesn't want to give that edge to someone.

Or maybe the writers just do it to add an air of mystery to him. When you don't express any emotion, it's difficult for someone to understand what goes inside your cranial chamber.

Maybe Soundwave cannot talk, but only repeat otherĀ“s voices like Echo the nymph.

I do not think, that somebody is interested, but neither do I want the silents to speak, as I think of their silence as a part of their personality...

    But wait...
Anyone means, that SoundWave doesn't repeat what he had recorded before?
If he just played it back, it would be totally the same, but since he repeats it in a bit different manner, does it prove, that he is not playing it, but telling himself, while trying to sound in a similar way?

Probably, because he is not an extrovert and doesn't want to communicate. This is how he avoids communication. It would be strange, when you are among humans, but if you are among the Decepticons, it is only your right to decide, how you will communicate or not.
If he didn't like his face or voice, who knows - maybe, he would be able to replace and rebuild it.

Just another excuse for an Aligned continuity flamewar. Namely that
in the novels the Nemesis is a stasis locked Trypticon, and Flying Minds says that Nemesis becomes sentient or wakes up or whatever.
