Just wanted to say that movie Soundwave has one of the coolest voices, ever. Frank Welker did an awesome job voicing him.

This is just my small tribute, enjoy the clips!

Btw, anyone notice he sounds a little different in ROTF and DOTM?

One of the coolest lines, IMO: "Decepticons, mobilize. It is time."

In RoTF, he did sound a bit more metallic, like his voice was scraping against metal or something.

It is cool but it's far too generic. It sound pretty much the same as Megatrons, the Fallens, bonecrushers and Barricade.

It lost the awesome electronicness and uniqueness of Soundwaves voice. But that's just my opinion which from what I've seen on TFW does seem to just be my opinion.

There's just something so "creepy" and yet cool at the same time about his generic voice. It still sounds more "metal" than Megatron's or Fallen's.

I really like Soundwave's voice; it's a very unnerving sound and an interesting contrast to Megatron's growling tone and Starscream's high-pitched hiss.

Compare the first clip to the third clip. Did they reuse animation?

    Yeah, basically.

They changed the mouth animation a bit to match what he's saying in the "different" shots...but everything else is identical, from the lighting to the cloud formations on Earth below him.

Even blockbusters have to cut corners here and there to stick to their megabudgets.

    No biggie.

They're definitely the same scene...but the scenes are like 10 seconds each in a two and a half hour movie, so it's really not that big a deal. :lol

Frank Welker's Soundwave/Dr. Claw voice is my fav voice to imitate because it's awesome.

Gave me chills when I first herd the voice.

    This.
Before ROTF, I've never known about Soundwave, to be honest. Seeing him in that first scene was very chilling.

He sounded a little like Dr. Claw but yes he did have a very cool/creepy voice. The nostalgic part of me wanted the vocoder, but it just wouldn't work for a character voice in 2009 or 2011.

Well, Soundwave is basically just Dr. Claw through a vocoder, but yeah, little too gravelly for my tastes too. Still was nice to hear Welker get another shot at the character though. Maybe they should have used modern audio distortion techniques for a new take on the voice, though he'd probably end up sounding like Dubwave or Soundstep.

    Indeed.

Whether it's Dr. Claw with M.A.D. Cat or Soundwave with Ravage, it's still just a creepy and distant guy hangin' with his cat.

    ;)

Nice try, but it doesn't. Soundwave is a slow, raspy growl wheras Bonecrusher/Barricade have a quick-paced shouty roar. Megatron is Hugo Weaving, and his voice is very distinctive even pitched down. (and at times in DOTM it sounds barely altered, such as his initial words to Carly) The Fallen sounds like a gravelly old man, not at all like Soundwave.

Honestly the only comparrison of yours that has weight is Barricade in DOTM, for obvious reasons.
