SCV was announced today, and while I feel like the series has been slipping downhill after 2, I still love the games. Hoping this one bucks the trend. The story should be interesting, taking place so long after IV.

Soul Edge certainly looks nasty though.

    IV really burned me.

It will be hard to return with so many better fighters out there.

Thanks for sharing the news. My favorite was II as well, although III & IV weren't too bad, and did introduce some cool characters.

I for one really hope they cut down on the immense fanservice. While it's nice to have attractive characters, the ridiculously revealing costumes and in-your-face cleavage really got annoying, and embarrassing to play at times.

I wonder who the guest characters will be this time?

I wouldn't mind a Kamen Rider or any Super Sentai hero for SCV, seeing as though Kamen Rider, Soul Calibur, and Super Sentai are all owned by Bandai, but it probably wouldn't work outside of Japan.

    Seventeen year gap between games?

Well, I’m going to say that somehow Ivy was put in suspended animation and now looks even younger than she did before.
Why not? Namco did that to Nina in Tekken.

And the character customization will follow the Capcom model and a new suit of clothes costs $5 per character.

    Here's hoping for Kos-Mos as a guest character. :)

I too also like SC II. III was ok but IV was forgettable. I think the main thing I liked best was the single player Tales of Swords part with the weapons and such. Not having that in III and IV meant it had some real limited playability. And I definately didn't like playing SC IV online because it turns out I'm not that good at it, despite being able to beat the single player!

III and IV ruined Ivy for me :( . I'll keep an eye on it, but I wont hold out much hope.

Well, Super Sentai might work, there are still a lot of people that remember and watch Power Rangers, especially on this board, seeing from the popular thread in the toyark. A Kamen Rider, as fun as it could be, I have to echo what you said, it probably wouldn't work over here :(  .

Ooo, they finally announced it! They hinted at this in the beginning of the year.

While I love the Soul Calibur series muchos, they will really need to work hard to compete with all the latest fighters in the market. Their days of being one of the dominant 3D fighters are long gone.

The newest Mortal Kombat will be my benchmark for excellent single player content in a fighting game.

Gametrailers also put up the debut teaser, I have yet to see it for myself:

With the recent Tekken X SF, I wonder if some of the guest characters might end up being Capcom fighters?

Onimusha characters would be a perfect fit.

I loved the first three Soul Caliburs, with II being my favorite. IV was horrible. Just about everything about it sucked.

Hopefully V is big improvement over IV and we get Kos-Mos this time around.

I thought something similar. With the recent partnership of Namco and Capcom, the possibility is definitly there.

Who knows, maybe we will finally see the long speculated Dante making an appearance in the Soul Calibur Series?

soul blade/edge & soul caliber were so good, its a shame how they eventually ended up with 4. i really liked the world described in the first game and it just more and more stupid ever since.

I sure hope not. No more Star Wars characters. Let's actually see some guest characters from other Bandai Namco franchises like Xenosaga or the Tales of series.

Or they could join with Tecmo to take on Street Figher X Tekken and make a Soul Calibur X Dead or Alive.
