    Set course for FAILURE.

Can anyone say Dead or Alive Part II?

There's NO ONE that can fill the bra of Ivy and Taki in Hollywood.

    Whaaaat.

I find that Wiki article hard to believe. Sammo Hung directing with Jackie Chan staring? Certainly never heard that before now. This new stuff with Nostradamus, "Shaolin monks", gates to Hell, and "2nd Degree Media", who no ones ever heard of? A horribly small poster?

I have to throw the fake flag at this one.

    nah, it's real.

and it's gonna fucking suck. In order to work, Soul Calibur would need a huge budget to replicate the massive battles that nightmare was known to dominate, knocking away wave after wave of soldiers. be able to do inferno without him looking like shit. it would have to be fucking epic, and I'm sure this isnt going to be that.

I've been hearing about a Soul Calibur movie for a very long time, and that wiki article does chronicle all that was heard about it.

This new "bit" of info however, is very unconvincing to me for the time being. (2007 release date?)

Ugh, I don't need to be reminded about the DoA movie's existence...

But unlike DoA, SC doesn't HAVE to be all about fanservice.

In fact, it'd be great if they completely omit them and focus on bringing Nightmare to the big screen instead...

    Wholeheartedly agreed.

Well, if not the movie, I suppose there's still this to look forward to:

    Wha?

If they were intent on a SoulCalibur movie I'd hope they'd just go full CGI like Final Fantasy VII: AC. Video games just don't work well as live action movies. Seriously the best game->movie adaption was probably Mortal Kombat, and that ain't saying much.

Plus as pinoy78 pointed out, no one can really pull off certain characters physically (that goes for some of the guys too, Astaroth, Nightmare, and Voldo spring to mind).

CGI would also led itself to more dynamic battle scenes (like some of the game's opening cinemas). Animation just works better for games in general. Look at the Street Fighter anime film vs. the live action one (warning: do not look directly at the live action Street Fighter movie)

    Too late.

    :Gouki:

And yes, I agree that this would probably be better as a CGI movie.

I love Soul Calibur but I doubt a film will ever actually get off the ground.

By Shaolin Monks they are probably talking about Kilik and Xian Hua after all they both poses sacred objects known for countering the dark seed/Soul Blade/Inferno and Xian's object turns into THAT "thing" when she confronts inferno. The only question I have is are they leaving from the same temple? Personally I think the movie has some great potential. Get Yuen Woo Ping to do the choreagraphy don't throw in all of the characters just for the sake of throwing them all in.

Actually from what I heard at that time, they planned to do a different take from the game. No familiar characters would be in the movie, just the basic history on the origins of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur.

That was many years ago though.

    Yep.

And probably the only real reason I'll eventually get a next gen console.

If you consider mystical swords as steroids. Then yes, that be our German protagonist on steroids. :lol

The next installment of the game has Sieggy as the definitive wielder of Soul Calibur, so he looks the part as well. Bad-ass.

EDIT: Hmm, instead of a movie, I think the series would be a lot better off as an anime series. One that allows each and every character in the series to be properly fleshed out.

Although there might be a problem trying to replicate the sheer amount of detail on Siegfried's and Nightmare's armour on hand-drawn animation...

They actually managed to make nightmare look boring and uninteresting. his arm is so damn plain, too. that particular arm is supposed to be anything BUT plain.

Nightmare does seem to be missing the Spikes petruding from his arm and body (he looks like he's got Krouser's mutated arm from Resident Evil 4). That would've made the Teaser Poster look very nice, or at least convincing enough to make Fan and normal movie-goers go "Hmmm... interesting!"

Well it can't be no worse than a Tekken Movie (something I dread very much). Seriously, dong either is like trying to produce a Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie. Its Impossible given the outlandish personalities and appearances featured in the series!
