This thing is utterly embarassing by today's TF standards. If you think for a moment the Hasbro team or anyone at Hasbro leadership would consider allowing such a thing to be released today, I think you're way off base. An interesting piece of history, for sure... but a terrible, ugly toy.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing a break from planet TFs... between Armadacron, Enercron, Primus, Death Star, and Univercron, there have been planetformers on the shelves every year since 2001.

Yeah, I've thought about that too. I wonder if there's just some weird taboo of it or something. Like there is some sort of fear of others knowing they have this rare and valuable thing. Kind of like rare artifacts collectors... a lot of times they don't want people knowing that they have particular pieces because they because of the "initial methods" used to "acquire" said pieces. Even if they weren't involved in the original "elicit" activities.

You know... I owned Snake Mountain as a kid and I always thought that voice change microphone gimmick was lame. So did most of my friends. I have to say I find it interesting that someone would actually state that they find this gimmick makes it more sought after. To each his own I guess.

I concur. All it did was echo.

I was always pissed that it looked nothing like the cartoon. I wanted that big pointy peak with the snake wrapped around it! Not some weird face thing with creepy eyes!...thing looked like a muppet.

the G1 prototype well the horns are a somewhat unnatractive feature but other then that its looks ok for an 80s figure that i will never get i wish the owner would post some more photos of the item i can only find a few on the web

Yup, they're about as rare as your punctuation marks.

While I'm not a big fan of G1 toys, and G1 Unicron isn't the best looking toy they've ever come up with, it is something I would buy if they were to ever produce it. Armada Unicron is cool, but there's just something about the G1 Unicron prototype that I oddly enough like. It's just too bad it'll never happen. If only one of the ko'ers would get ahold of one of the prototypes and produce it themselves. Though they would end up charging a lot for it (it is huge afterall), and it'd probably be hard to get ahold of, and not include any of the cool features it would have included if officially produced. So in the end it would probably be better of if left alone, lol.

Yeah I get what you mean. I also really like that gimmick in the takara unicron photo of having a moonbase within unicron's periphery in planet mode....really nice touch. Ingenuity like that is gone in today's toys

It's a dead issue just let it go. Whoever owns it will not let you, me or anyone else look at it. I really don't think it's all that anyway aside from being ultra rare, I like my Armarda one better. Any way Transform27 good luck on your quest.

This link here: UnicronPage has a ton of pictures of the G1 prototype as well as some history behind the toy. I highly recommend checking it out.

It can't really be an encore, if it was never released in the first place.
