Sorry, I still don't fully understand what power core combiners are

I thought it was a line of TFs that come with minicons (or whatever) and they could combine but now they have scout sized TFs that combine too?

The whole line is scout sized as far as we know.

You have the two packs which come with a scout sized figure and a minicon that can transform into a weapon or armor or etc.

And you have the five packs which come with a scout sized figure and 4 "drones" that automorph into limbs for a combiner of the 5 in the pack.

The scouts also have different heads, one for regular robot mode and one for combiner mode.

Essentially the meat of the line are scout sized figures. Some of the scout figures are part of 5 packs (the other 5 being vehicular drones with limb modes but no robot modes), and some of the scout figures come with mini cons that also act as their weapons.

All of the scout figures can form the centre of a combiner.

They look kind of silly to me, but I think that younger kids (such as my kids) would love the combination and automorph gimmicks.

2-Pack - Scout + Minicon, minicons have several forms (robot, car weapon, robot weapon, combiner attachment?)

5-Pack - Scout + two arm drones and two leg drones. Drones do not have a robot mode.

All the scouts have attachments for the drones. They also have two heads and the combined form looks a lot different from the robot form. Watch Peaugh's video reviews to get a better idea.

I think they are Habro's attempt to cash in on combiners being popular again while still having an affordable toy.

As people have already stated you've got scout sized figures with either a mini-con or drones. Drones or mini-cons can be swapped between different scout sized figures to take advantage of kids enjoying swapping out parts on their figures. Adds another play feature to combiners instead of saying figures can only combine on one combiner.

The back story for Power Core seems to be that they are an attempt by the Transformers to make more intelligent combiners. Instead of the robot personalities battling for control the one robot has control over the drones it uses for arms and legs.

They're downsized Energon combiners that took the robot modes out of the limbs, replacing it with vehicle-to-limb automorph.

Also, each drone and the scout-size figure from a 5-pack has at least one mini-con port, so you can attach more mini-cons onto a "combined" figure.

Although considering all the mini-cons we've seen thus far are mostly translucent plastic, extended periods of heavy play wouldn't be a good way to keep these mini-cons intact over the years (I learned the hard way when my Armda Star Saber's hilt broke off of Sonar's back from too much force over the years.)

From what I understand, the instructions on the package read:

    Remove from package.
    Place directly in toilet.

I thought I read that they were going to make a Superion and Bruticus set of these? Is there any truth to that or was I just reading a rumor?

I think these PCC things look like trash, but I'd probably buy a matching Superion and Bruticus.

'cept they've got about as much to do with the Energon gestalts as the G1 gestalts.

The first wave has Aerialbots and Combaticons, but they don't use the name Bruticus or Superion.

Good news for me is that they will be on the shelfs for me I guess. I'm pumped to get these. Scout size class is easily becoming my new favorite to play with as they still look real cool and are a nice transformation. I was watching a Peaugh review last night, and I was liking what I was seeing.

First of all, I'm kind of disappointed in how they turned out. It would've been great to have individual transformable robots, but instead we got something along the lines of Fattimus Prime from Energon.

Fattimus Prime has terrible add-ons that looked like crap as vehicals and as Limbs.

These power core combiners have a lot of potential.

Definitely gonna pass on these. I didn't realize at first that the "drones" didn't actually have robot modes and were just little automorph gimmicks. That pretty much kills it for me.

Fattimus prime himself was a bad figure without the limbs. The core bots look pretty good, especially since they're scout sizes.
