PSO, or Phantasy Star Online happens to be one of my all round favorite games i played it on the Dreamcast, i played it on the game cube. i had high hopes for PSU(Phantasy star universe) but there eu/us servers were handled badly and there was something about the game's mechanics that i was unhappy with (SYNTHING!!!:mad ) hell i'm still playing Blue Burst on the Private Servers.

well it looks like they're finally making a new Phantasy Star Online game

    Link to the relevant trailer

I'm cautiously optimistic as sega has been improving what the cocked up in PSU with the portable/zero games

PSO is the primary reason I do anything on a PC or online gaming. But while I would love a new better PSO, I am very skeptical about it. The original PSO play setup is just plain and to old for anything current. That and they would have to compete with another online hack and slack, in Diablo 3.

But it better be at Ragol again dammit, and be able to actually explore outside Pioneer 2.

They need to get these people back to the Algo system. I want to know what that place looks like 10 millenium later.

    Found this already.

And these were also found in the vid:
So it seems they keeping the PSU system, which is meh. The system used in the PSP games is better.

Awesome. But the trailer says "For WIndows PC". They damn well better be releasing this on consoles too. If they pull another Blue Burst then to hell with them.

Yeah keep a game whose roots were on a Sega Genesis console on PC only. I have a pretty decent PC and I still don't support that.

Because splitting up the players is such a fantastic idea. Really. How often does a game come out on PC and consoles where that doesn't happen?

Final Fantasy 11. No, it doesn't happen often, but I don't really care. I would be just as fine playing PSO with other PS3 or 360 gamers. I don't need to play with PC people.

What I am saying is that the game should come to all platforms, regardless of whether or not it's cross platform online. PSO started on the Sega Dreamcast, and not being able to play with PC gamers didn't hinder that game's fun in the least.

I loved PSO with a passion. I played the hell out of that game. PSU on the other hand has made me lose all interest I had in the franchise. They would have to come out with something a lot closer to PSO or very impressive to pull me back.

And PC only would absolutely not be the way to do that either.

I lost interest with PSU also. The new PSP game though is pretty damn awesome. It cleaned up a few little things, like being able to lock-on and strafe while wielding a gun (Whereas before it was only with a sword).

I'm a big PSO fan, and I'm finding the PSP game to be incredibly awesome, but I guess it depends on what turned you off about PSU in the first place.

Not everyone's a PC gamer though, for whatever reason. I dislike gaming on PC myself. I hate playing with a keyboard and mouse. And I really, really detest the PC upgrading game you have to play because of PC games constantly pushing the graphics envelope further and further.

Still, you don't see me shitting on it and suggesting things should be console-only. I'm sure as a PC gamer you wouldn't be too thrilled if, hypothetically speaking, it was the other way around and PSO2 was only going to be on consoles.

The notion that this is PC only is ridiculous.

It's sux when you have gold sitting in front of you hands, and all you have to do is reach out and grab it, but you make a choice simply not to.

Our old ongoing joke with Sega was always, "Guess they don't want food on the table for Thanksgiving."

edit: on the flipside, this thread reminded me that there is a Phantasy Star on the DS that I never got a chance to play, and now I have a 3DS, so......
