I just got him today and even though he was advertised as "new" his condition seems to be the differ. The chrome on his grill has wear and the two screws in his stomach are really really rusted, along with some scuff marks on his chest stickers.

Has anybody elses Black Convoys came like this? Is it a factory problem? Or was the seller selling used stuff? He had about 6 he was selling, so I assumed it was all old new stock.

Sonokong does tend to have worse QC than Hasbro or Takara, but that sounds a little overboard.

I'd say it was probably stored in poor conditions... Was the tape cut?

All my Sonokong stuff has been fine.

Well, a lot of the Sonokong TF items were in overstock and stored in shipping crates for a long time. It was during the shipping ports strikes here in L.A. a while back. The majority of these Sonokong toys suffered during the strike by being held within crates filled with humidity. During the time of the strike, L.A. was suffering a very humid weather so this had affected a lot of the toys coming in overseas.

So in your case, the seller is located in Rancho Palos Verde which is here in SoCal. This would mean that he probably bought it from a seller in Downtown L.A. (the Toy District Area which is where you can find most of the Sonokong toys) or from another seller who imported it during that time.

Considering the price, even with a few flaws, it was a steal.

Yeah... you got a pretty good price, so no big deal, eh? Just some rusty screws? It's a great figure!

My Sonokong Black Convoy was all good. You probably just got a poorly stored one. But then, I paid more than you did, so don't feel bad. :)

Mine came with slightly worn grill chrome. Other than that, it was perfect.

Sonokong's QC is pretty slack, but considering they're cheap, official releases of harder to find originals it's not too bad. With a whole Brave collection from them the only flaws I've got are one Draias chestpiece with some wear where it pressed up against the box, and a gun which looked like someone grabbed it before the mold was set - the gunpost had a partial fingerprint in it!

you are dead on right, was about to say the same thing until i read your post. the seller probably did get it from the korean guy on 3rd in the toy district. whenever i get sonokong brave stuff from there i always open them to inspect, i've also seen the death garry with rusty screws.

you paid a very good price for it, can't do anything easy/cheap about the grill but you can always swapped out the rusted screws.

I have the same problem too with my Black Convoy, rusty screws, some wear on the grill, but the stickers are ok. Mine came from a different seller but still based in Southern Cali somewhere.

Umm, maybe I am looking at something wrong, but isn't the pic in the auction the actual Japanese (Takara) version, not the Sonokong one.

Not sure whether it's the Japan version or not, but that's the same box mine came in, and I got it from the seller liqdeal, who deals largely in Korean versions of Japanese releases. I just assumed it was the Korean release.

I always thought the Sonokong version had a different box. Nontheless, for that price you got a really nice deal, minor flaws or not.

Yeah, Sonokong does have a different box. That's the Japanese version.

So uh, is the Sonokong version the Korean version or is there a difference there as well?
