I understand the game was released a year ago, but ever since I heard the mixed reviews, I put off buying it. But I play the demo and it kicks ass! Has anyone owned or played the full game and can give me some feedback? I don't wanna blow 20 bucks on a piece o' crap game though.

I have it, it's... a mixed bag. The Sonic sections are pretty amazingly awesome, the Werehog sections not so much plus the game structure sucks really hard.

For $20? Probably not a bad investment... above that I would probably stay well away.

Yeah, I'll agree with TT's comments. The speed sections are really pretty awesome, the relevant levels are fun, and the music and graphics are nice. The Werehog levels really are a bit of a deal-breaker though, they suck pretty bad.

I preffered the Were-hog levels. The speed levels are worse than ever, since you have to go back-n-forth, cannot collect all of the rings and there's lots of trial and error + memorization of the courses. In addition, they didnt balance out the hedgehog and were-hog levels. I'd feel like I'd get 30min of werehog play followed by 5min of hedgehog play.

And oh god the voice acting!

    They're slow as hell.

    And they're really repetitive.

It's trying to be Devil May Cry, but misses the vital aspects of fun and variation.

I like the game. Probably my fav. game for the PS2. ^^ What? Its a Sonic game, how could I dont like it? XD

Just kidding. Anyway, yes, i really enjoy. I admit the Werehog levels are a bit annoying and difficult first but after a while they can be really fun. I read in different reviews that the style of those stages have nothing to do with the previous Sonic games but i dont mind at all, maybe because i like the ...em..whats the name of those kind of games? where you walk and beat up the enemies that got in front of you? Anyway, i like those games and thats why i enjoy those Werehog levels.
The music is amazing too. i got them all in my pc and sometimes i download them to my mp3. ^^
And the Gaia boss is EPIC! I could play that final level all day. ^^

It's no "Shadow the Hedgehog" though.

    That game was a masterpiece.

I didn't think they were so bad.
But I didn't want to play them.

It's the dichotomy that bothered me.
The speed levels were exactly what I wanted in a current-gen Sonic game.
They are so much better than Sonic Heroes or the Godforsaken Sonic the Hedgehog of '06.

So I would get done with a speed level and have a really good feeling about the game and then be forced to do a Werehog level.

    Still, it's worth $20. Definitely.

My browser can't handle that much sarcasm!

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are. But in all seroiousness, I bought the game and the Sonic levels are the best. Honestly if someone likes the were hog level for any reason what so ever, commit them. They are obviously not healty enough to function in today's society. I mean he's slow and those levels have broken controls. Believe me, if they game were just the Sonic levels, I would've payed full price for it. But I bought it anyway since I have a passion for the hedgehog, After all these yers.... *couch*SONIC R SUCKS*cough*.

I think it's a good game. The werehog stages aren't that bad, IMO. Although, I have it for the wii, and depending on what system you get the game for, it is a bit different.

I'd have to agree. The Werehog levels are at least a bit faster than the 360/PS3 version and really revolve heavily on stunning enemies. Plus, the daytime levels are still just as good.

It's a good game, but the Werehog Levels (and more importantly, lack of Speed Levels) stop it from being a great game. READ AND LEARN, SEGA.
