Coming "late this year" for download on Xbox Live, PSN, PC, iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android and Windows Phone 7. Wii's memory limitations seem to be keeping it off their download service. Will have the European and Japanese soundtracks as well.

I'm psyched. I've only ever played this once at a Babbage's way back when.

Sonic CD out on almost everything this year (with Japanese soundtrack) | Joystiq

I used to work at Babbages.

If you're strong, you can fly,
you can reach the other side of the rainbow.
    It's alright, take a chance,
    'cause there is no circumstance
that you can't handle (when you use your mind)

Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (trouble
    keeps you runnin' faster)
Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Somic Boom (save the
    planet from disaster)

Both Soundtracks are confirmed thanks to Sonic Retro.

Anyway, the more important news is that it's using the fan developed Retro Engine. That means Sega is starting to defer to fans and hiring them...which is hugggggge news. The Retro engine is amazing to boot. You can toggle between Sonic 2 spindash, 60 fps and widescreen, and all sorts of other things like the soundtrack.

I think it's cute they tried to throw in Sonic 4 in there. No one wants Sonic 4, stop pushing it until you can do it right Sega.

I'm getting this. I love that they're using the superior Japanese soundtrack (I don't hate the American soundtrack, it's good).

Played it on the GC's Sonic Gems Collection a while back. While I still enjoy the game it doesn't hold up as well as I remembered.

Still, it's classic Genesis era Sonic so I'll get it on XBLA and maybe WinP7 even though I have it for PC, on SGC, and Sega CD still.

Ah snap. Will buy. One of the only classic Sonic games I never beat. The other being Sonic & Knuckles.

    Sonic Boom!

I got Sonic CD on one of the GC collections that came out a few years back but never got round to playing much of it.
I'll be grabbing this though so I can.

Meh. I'm a little tired of Sonic at this point.

It's great for those who want it, but I'm just not one of them. Though it did bring back great memories watching the video.

Still got the original Mega CD version. :D  I picked it up on the PC in the late 90s but was disappointed by the use of the US soundtrack, and if I play it now I need to fire up Bochs (Win95 ftl). Looking forward to this. :D
