So, 5 yrs ago, I moved to a little town called orwigsburg. Cheap rent, very quiet and generally a safe place to raise the kids. One thing though, no real internet. It never occured to me that there were still places left without broadband internet. I never even bothered to ask when I looked at the place. I cant begn to explain the fustration that me and my girl go through. And actually, there is braodband in orwigsburg, just not my street! WTF!

Wow, I didn't even know you could still use dial up. Are you from the past with a fancy time machine or something? :p

I had to deal with this in my house in western mass, which is quite similar to rural pa. then the facility I worked at finally jumped in and got a satellite dish installed. it was like a godsend.

That bites, Sancho. Hopefully broadband becomes a reality there soon.

If flying cars ever became a reality they would only be for the super elite and/or people with pilots' licenses. Otherwise the general public would wipe itself within a matter of weeks. So many cars sticking out of the rooves of houses...

Obviously you aren't playing online games, so why not satellite? My friend has it (oddly only a mile from a town that has hi-speed there is no service -between phone/cable jurisdictions I supposed because it is on a highway). He doesn't do online gaming and the satellite works out fine.

^ we actually tried that, they slow you down if you use it too much. $90 a month should be something close to unlimited.

Atleast you had internet when you moved into your new house.

Back when my family moved into our new house we are renting about 6 - 8 months ago, there was absolutely nothing that showed that the house had any phone connections whatsoever. So we had to dig up the ground so they could lay the wiring needed into the ground and pay to get a connection up for the phone AND the Internet.

    But that's old and forgotten.

There are a lot of places like that with broadband isn't available save for by satellite its gotten to the point where most companies think whats left isn't really commercially viable, much like when phone service first stretched out across this land of ours, the government eventually had to step in and force phone companies to get them to make telephones available to all.

Not saying they will do that for Broadband but they should it almost to the point its a necessity.
