Yeah it's COMPLETELY obvious from his first post! Be less Paranoid, get a gun. There is more wisdom in this than thinking people who are going to rape/murder/burgle you will turn into your driveway with their lights on...
I am letting that go as a joke. My mom has been a school bus driver (among other things) for over 20 years and has seen kids get tougher, meaner and carry the attitude that shit doesn't matter. they just don't care as long as they do what they want. and knowing this myself, i worry. and remember what every one said about Ted Bundy; he was polite, well educated, charismatic and outgoing. that incident made me think of great white sharks. great whites are always smiling before they bite. it doesn't seem right for it to smile right before it kills something, ya know? seems that way with those kids...they were all smiles and it didn't seem right. ugh. just be careful out there you guys.
That's right, EVERYONE who smiles at you wants to murder you and bathe in your blood in the full moonlight... It puts the lotion in the basket!
GW Freak likes trolling if you didn't know. It sounds like you did the right thing. Being protective over your Mom or any other family member, particularly when you have a gut feeling and handle it in a responsible way (you didn't just pull your mom away and try to walk away and ignore them, you decided to clearify, then lead them to a policeman when things became estranged) is always a good way to handle things. I can't see anything wrong with this on any level.
Sorry, I was actually posting while you posted your first post there. But, still, on topic, I would have done just what the OP did.
Are you kidding? In this day and age of iphones and GPS, they couldn't locate a freaking WENDY'S? They would just have to 411 it on their cell to get their number and then call the store to ask for directions. Eitherways, a group of SEVEN of them?! Thats really freaky. I think the OP should be happy that he was there to protect his mom when he was.
Not everyone has an iphone or and/or GPS. I don't. And since these were teeneagers, it's unlikely they could afford it. But SEVEN of them...omg in this day of iphones, text, and the internet, people actually interact with OTHER PEOPLE and have friends? Very freaky indeed.
Sounds like your mom was targeted for some evil plot. There was no reason they should bother the same person with directions, especially in a walmart. Okay, I tell a story now. Late one night my family is walking back from the carnival on a four lane road, it's not too late but traffic is scarce. My moron sister decides to walk on the other side of the road alone, I'm on the other side with my mom. After some time we notice this van coming upon us on the other side (right lane though), kinda creepy. It's windows are tinted, you can't see the driver, and it slows down when it reaches my sister. Mom points it out and I sprint across the lanes. The van takes off. Oh yeah, the person decided they are lost and want to ask directions from a lone woman ten something at night. Uh huh, right.... But what if they dragged my sister into their vehicle and take off? I use my powers of reason to make them feel guilty? Or maybe they need a guide?
The tales in this Thread, especially the OP's are enough to keep me looking over my shoulder and Invest in some Serious Martial Arts and Weapons Training. Traveling in Groups and the Police seem to help, whenever people are confronted with this situation though. EDIT:Oh, hey look what the Related Threads Found: "Texting Man Avoids One Train, Struck By Another"
Sorry if I'm playing the devil's advocate, but this could have an easy explaination. Kid walking on the side of the road...oncoming vehicle...I slow down when I'm coming up on someone walking. But if I were in your shoes, I would not leave that to chance and would have sprinted across just the same as you.
