So I as thinking just a few minutes ago about how TM Megatron was about the size of Optimus Prime's head when we see them together in "The Agenda". I didn't think much of it at the time since we were told about the downsizing of Transformers during the great upgrade. But then it hit me. We see guys like Tigatron hanging out with a real tiger and they're the same size. The rest of the BW bots were about the right size to compare to their alt modes ( birds and bugs excluded ). This would mean that Megatron should have been the size of a real T-rex, or at least close. He was certainly bigger than a tiger since he was bigger than Tigatron. Now a T-rex might be smaller than the cab of a tractor trailer, but not nearly as much smaller as Megatron was next to Prime. So which is it? Tiny dinosaur, or super huge truck?

Well if your Robot Mode is as small as it is and you chose an alternate mode, how big do you think said alternate mode is going to be compared to robot mode?

    Tiny dinosaur.

There was no mass shifting in Beast Wars don't forget, so whilst Maximals and predacons scanned their alternate forms from animals, their existing body mass had to be taken into account, therefore they didn't end up with an alt mode the same size as the animal they scanned, just with its appearance. That's why Rattrap isn't so small as to be able to be carried around by Rhinox in his pocket :D

Trying to make sense of the scale of Transformers is pointless.

I dunno, I always saw Beast Wars as being the only TF cartoon with consistent scale in the context of the show.

I don't think they thought about that, but if I had to choose something, i'd say tiny dinosaur

I think it was definitely consistent if you just look at the characters compared with each other, but if you look at it from the OP's point of view we have a T-Rex Megatron the size of a large cat. Obviously that's wrong.

    animation cheat

while this is mostly true, in that the editors certainly tried harder than in any other series, you're also citing one of the dramatic high points of the series and it was the S2 cliffhanger. It needed to stand out and be as memorable as possible. If Megs had been made to scale in that shot he would have obscured Prime through most of the scene and really lessened the effect of what was going on.

    So they cheated.

Megatron was the same size as a Primal, give or take a few feet. There's no cheating, Megs is just a small robot compared to Optimus. Think of it like the Vehicons or Micromasters.

Optimus Prime was not a truck at that time.

All other arguments must take heed of this.

    Not at all.

Megatron was the same size in that scene as he had been in the entire rest of the series. Just because he has the appearance of a dinosaur in his alt mode it doesn't necessarily mean he should be the size of a dinosaur. Quite a few of the Beast Wars alt modes were not in scale ot their real life counterparts. Just look at Waspinator for example. By rights he should have been almost too small to see on screen but his alt mode just looked like a wasp, it wasn't actually a wasp. They were small robots.
Am I wasting my breath here..?

Pretty much none of the Beast Wars characters besides Prime and the cats were the right size, in order to keep their robot modes around the same size as eachother.

But yeah, it still seemed like Prime was even HUGER than he should have been in that scene, though his head SHOULD be about the same size as a person, right?

I think the point is still missed. Optimus did not get smaller in G1 when he scanned the truck. So he's still truck sized. Yet comparing Tigatron to Megatron, and then to Prime, he'd be way smaller than a big cat should be.

I dunno man. I mean, look at this picture:

Yeah, I know the perspective of the shot is a little screwy, but you can see that Megatron isn't that small compared to Prime. Say Tigatron is just a bit smaller than Megs and I think the scale you're referring to actually holds up pretty well.
