So I just want to say that I'm extremely sad Hasbro cancelled this show. Now that that's over.

In the first episode, when Megatron "dies" and the other 'Cons abandon him, the escape pods are the transition form for the film 'Bots. I thought it was kinda cool.

You're a little late to the party on this one champ, but yeah, they totally do. Cool, huh? There's a ton of movie influence in Animated, especially for the cons and especially in the early episodes.

Remember that, as rumor has it, Animated was at one point supposed to have a much more realistic style (as Transformers: Heroes) and look a lot more like the movies, sort of like what ended up happening with Prime. There's some concept sketches floating around for this out there, but not much else that I'm aware of.

I actually hadn't noticed that, mostly because I don't think I paid all that much attention to the escape pods. lol.

Yep, check out DVD volumes 4, 5 & 6 which cover the entirety of season 2. I got mine from TRU back in the day for about a fiver each.

No, they aren't. They're just escape pods. Animated TFs don't have transition forms. I believe the AA or AA2 actually label them escape pods.

EDIT: Specificaly Devolan Escape Ships. The Decepticons actually got them from Swindle.

The Allspark Almanac has some great sketches of the sorta-movie-like Hero designs, including a very awesome Soundwave.

Pretty sure he was saying they look like the movies' transition forms.

He says they are. And they don't really. In Animated they're very long, angular, sharp and have sections jutting out. In the movies they're round and solid. They look more like mini-backward Nemesis.

The OP is pretty clearly implying they are escape pods that look like the movie forms, not that the movie forms are in animated.

I couldn't tell, since they don't really look similar at all, I thought he was trying to say they were transition forms. Plus I recall when the episode actually aired many claimed they were, I thought he just made the same mistake.
