There's a guy who lives in Florida who is selling an 81' Camaro which has the same body type as Bumblebee in TF1. He's asking 2200 for it. Do you guys think it's a good deal? I think it would be awesome as my first car ;P

Go for it man! Get a repaint while your at it, make it look like bumblebee, everyone will be jealous. Don't forget, Sam's father paid $4000, you're paying $2200. :D

Just make sure the car runs good and works well. Also gotta checkout its history to before you buy. $2,000 not bad. You got Sam's father beat. :) )

Sounds like a pretty good deal if he's willing to paint it

You clearly have Sam's father beat. You're paying $1,800 less and this a 1981 Camaro rather than a 1976. Michael Bay picked a 1976 Camaro because it was the worst year for it.

Wow - A good paint job alone is about $2,000. I mean a GOOD paint job, inside and out. Have a mechanic that you trust check it out first. Also, ask for the VIN number and run a carfax report.

$2000 hahaha thats cheap. I paid over $5000 for body and paint on my 1969 Camaro.
As for the car you are looking at see if you can get them under $2000. Check the rear frame rails for rust. once they are gone the car is worthless unless you have lots of $$$$$ and its not worth it for a '81. Check the rear 1/4 panels for rust. Camaros are known for rust in this spot and under the rear window.
Check the engine and trans for leaks and how it shifts. The car is easy and cheap to fix your self if you know how. But if the trans is shot your looking at some $$$ . If the motor needs work other then just a tune up and you can't do the work your self or know someone good on the cheap run real fast.

If the car has the 350 motor and is in running order cool. The chevy 350 is a great motor with lots of cheap go fast parts. Now at this time(1981) the motor is very low in HP around 150 give or take. If its a V-6 keep looking. Also buy stock in Exxon as you will be driving from gas station to gas station.

I've been around Camaros my whole life from my Dad's 67, my 69 and 83 and my cousin's 1980 10 sec. 1/4 mile car. So that's just the basic stuff to look for.

Also look at the rear shock mounts in the trunk I believe(i know in the first gen they are in the trunk don't remember the 2nd gen cars. See if there is any cracking around them( from rust since the rear glass likes to leak).

Well, that's a good price and all, but the car used in the first film is actually a '76 Camaro, not an 81. They are similar, but not identical.:2c:
