I saw some lady with the last PCC Spastic/Idk who(probaby Skyhammer) in her cart, in a really long line at walmart on thursday night and was so tempted to snatch it, run to the other side of the store and then meet up with my family who were ready to check-out and the sad thing is they said I should've done it :lol

I ninja'd a guy once. Stalked him through the aisles real casually waiting for him to put the Cyberverse Optimus with trailer down, and once he did, I was in-and-out faster than superman on viagra.

I've been the beator, but don't recall ever being the beatee. Soundwave reissue at Toys R Us. A dude saw it and was all "WHOOOAAA Holy Shit!" and turned to get his girlfriend's attention to show her. I was casually approaching the shelf just at the right moment, and 'YOINK'. Turned and walked away.

I couldn't stay to look and see if there was anything else there that day because I don't think I could look the dude in the eye after that.

That is the only time I have ever seen that classics packed book-style Soundwave on the shelf, but still, I'm a jerk-face.

Joking aside, I think stealing shit outa people's carts is low (I've only done it with carts left unattended), but with stuff still on the shelf... that's more than fair game. If he wanted it badly enough, then he should've made a commitment to pick it up.

My usual approach is to allow myself to be beaten if it's a question of me getting it or a kid / friend getting it instead. I'm usually not bothered by these things - never yet had a case where I couldn't get what I wanted later on.

Funny that this thread is started as this just happend to me earlier this week.

I was at a Ross checking to see what they had. Looked at the shelf and there was a lot of RTS there, like they just opened a case. Jazz, BB, Tracks, etc. Then I look at this kid and he is clutching a Wreck-Gar, who I have been wanting for a while.

I'm kind of bummed and I'm already considering what I am going to grab as my consolation prize, when the kid finds something else he wants and drops Wreck-Gar! I scooped it up and skipped my way to the register... not really, but you know what I mean.

So I guess that while I did get "beat to the punch", I took his best shot and some how rallied for the victory.

Never happened to me. In fact, I did it to someone else. I bought the last Movie Megatron on a shelf right before a mom came and wanted to buy it.

You know, I'm often like that too, especially when it's evident that a kid/parent is actively looking at the section. Most of the time I just walk away all together until they leave, or if they're taking a long time, I'll ask if the one I was gonna grab happens to be the one they were after. I haven't really had to do this with toys much, but there's usually a lot of people in Superstore buying bread when I'm there, and I don't like to hogg everything, especially since I usually buy a lot at a time.

I just don't harbour any ill will to someone for having a faster hand than me because in all fairness, I didn't grab it 1st.

As much as I use to hunt, I've never had this happen or maybe just never noticed.

In my area, it doesn't really happen that much. I can't even recall a time that happened.

But I've seen times when I'm the last one to pick up a TF mould in a particular store. I pick up multiples for friends and kitbash purposes.

    Happened the other day.
I called a TrU from another barren TrU asking if they had Prime figures, was told they did, and proceeded to drive the extra 20-miles to get them (I was bored). Got there, and all they had was BB. As I started scouring the aisle, a store associate came into the aisle holding Arcee and Starscream. I asked her if I could have them, and she said she was holding them for someone on the phone.
Pissed me off since I was a customer in the store with cash in hand.

Can't say that it has ever happened to me, I bet it would suck though.

To be fair, if you were the guy who'd called then you would be so righteously pissed off.

Happened once during energon. All I needed to finish the Aerobots combiner was the center guy. I eagerly walked towards the one I saw hanging on the peg. Seconds before I reached for him some dad picks it up for his kid. It was the only one left. :(

Other than that I either see it or I don't.

Actually I was on the other side of the fence once too. I was walking towards Walmart and noticed a guy in front of me ( from the parking lot) I got a vibe from him so I picked up my pace from a stroll to a brisker walk. I passed him, landed some new figures just as he turned the corner looking for the same figures.

SDCC Blaster when they were at a discount store up here in Canada called Winners. Every other province reported getting 10+. I went there every day for 2 weeks and didn't see it at all. My guess is that someone came and bought them all, or maybe staff. who knows- ideally in my head I'm hoping a bunch of moms bought them for their kids and a new generation is enjoying the G1 goodness. However, I was choked I didn't get a SDCC Blaster for $20!

I actually have a good ending to mine. You see, Roanstalker was looking for an Arch Tiger. I found the last one in Hong Kong I could, beating him to it. The only problem was, I'd just bought one beforehand. So even thou I almost picked it up, I left it behind. Only half a year later did I find out Roan wanted one, so I sent him to where I'd last left that Arch Tiger. And what do you know? It was still there. So I may have beaten him to it, but all's well that ends well.

In terms of Transformers, I have been beaten a few times. Like when I got to Hobbybase, saw 4 Animated Rodimuses. I went around for a look at the other stuff, by the time I circled around back to the Animated shelf, all four Rodimuses were gone. And I'd been searching for that figure for ages. Damn it if I didn't feel a bit down at that point, to think I'd missed out on a cool figure like Roddy.
