I know alot of them died, but what about the rest of them like: Sunstreaker, Hound, Hoist, Grapple, Inferno, Skids, Smokescreen, Tracks, Skyfire cause we haven't seen them nor heard of ever since season 2 finished, except fpr Hound and Sunstreaker. Yes I know their toy got discontinued but did they survived the Attack of Autobot City? Hound and Sunstreaker were shown next to Prime's Shuttle but could of they have been killed as the battle continued when Prime confronted Megatron?

    Thanks

My suggestion: make up your own fiction. To my knowledge there is no definitive answer to what exactly happened to them.

This. Most likely those TFs like Jetfire/ Skyfire, Hound, Powerglide and those type of bots just disappeared the same way Windcharger and Huffer did after season 1, either making short appearences after their importance has diminished or disappeared.

How do you KNOW a lot of them died?

There were only 5 CONFIRMED dead and one of those 5 came back.

you already asked this question several times in several threads this year.

and the answer is the same.

"it wasnt covered in the cartoon" so no one can say what happened.

Because all the diaclone figures were already almost 5 years old, some older.
like I said, 5 confirmed dead, that is hardly "a lot of them"

They retired to a cybertronian nursing home for old bots.

Be cause that's how they did it back then. Each year/season had it's set of toys, so they wanted to showcase the toys of that year.

The season 2 guys were sold into 1986, but Hasbro's focus with the post movie episodes was to push sales of the NEW MOLDS they had created. Most of the season 2 new guys had a pretty solid push in the prior episodes of the cartoon, following the movie, Hasbro's marketing focus was on the new basic figures (Hot Rod, Cyclonus, etc), the city bots, and the combiners. Why put any focus on "old toys" that were going to be cycled out of retail anyway? (and for the record, yes, apparently Jazz was to be a major character as his toy continued to be sold into 1986 like bumblebee, Starscream and Soundwave. He didn't get featured because of the death of his VA)

Fiction-wise, it was never addressed because, well, it was a cheap little action cartoon to sell toys. The writers focus was the Hasbro mandated push to sell the new stuff, so the old stuff tended to get forgotten.

Sorry, but "for the record" that just doesnt seem to fit the reality of the issue.

As I have stated before, in the almost 25+ years of TF research, including my very short time at Marvels NY hq file room, I have never seen a single ounce of evidence that suggests they ever had asny plans to use Jazz or the other surviving autobots in any significant way.

Not any un-used scripts, or re-writen script that featured Jazz,Clifjumper or Bumblebee in anything but a small part.

And Jazz's va, Scatman Crothers, died on November 22, 1986, by that time, every PLANNED episode of season 3 had already been produced and aired.

The only episodes not produced were the last minute "The Return of Optimus Prime.

Its my understanding that Scatman Crothers was at least capable of preforming to within 2 months of his death, and most of the season 3 episodes must have been reported to be produced in the summer of 86.

So, if they planned to use Jazz, Scatman Crothers was more then able to do the job.

Wow, you were researching a brand two centuries before it existed?! :p

So, in any case, Jazz was still being shipping into 1986 (I recall his name on the Hartman's shipping lists for the time), but never made it into the show because he wasn't a new toy anymore :p

HAHAHAHA...........that might be the stupidest typo I ever made.Damnb I must be tired.

25+ years was what I wanted to type.
I think they "saved" Jazz and the rest was because of recognition.

the va's for Jazz and Cliffjumper were well known in the buiss, and not just in the cartoon world.

And BB was saved because he was the closest to a "child" they had at the time, killing him would have been like killing a baby.

One of the things I often look at is just because a character isn't in our view, it doesn't mean they're "gone". Season 3 as a whole has an intentional focus on other characters in a story. The storytellers want to tell the stories that involve Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Springer, Kup, Blurr, Arcee, etc. These characters are in our field of vision while the stories are told to us. For many of our former favorites, we simply aren't told what became of them. Perhaps that's simply not important from the storyteller's point of view? Perhaps after their stories are told to us, nothing more is noteworthy?

I always thought Skyfire became a deserter sometime during season 2. Seeing as how he disliked war and all.

I've actually considered the possibility that some of the Autobots simply retired. If it's ok for humans to retire, perhaps at some point older Autobots like Skyfire and Trailbreaker could retire as well.

I agree. I think it's possible that Jazz could've made a few small appearances, nothing more than say Bumblebee got. But I have a tough time imagining that Jazz was planned for any major stories/plots.

    Brawn
    Ironhide
    Prowl
    Ratchet
    Huffer
    Windcharger
    Wheeljack

All died in the movie. Wheeljack gets better in the Japanese G1, though.

Originally, Wheeljack was going to live and a group of the 84-85 Autobots were going to stop Unicron from doing something (can't remember) to Earth. This was why Blaster didn't go with the other Autobots into space.

    Mirage (Shot by Megatron)
    Trailbreaker (Died somehow)
    Gears (Killed by Sweeps)
Smokescrean (Dead beside Windcharger instead of Wheeljack)
    Red Alert (Shot by Constructicons)

Were all going to die as well, but ended up just not appearing.

Correction, the only CONFIRMED DEATHS from the movie are....

    Autobots

    Optimus Prime
    Ironhide
    Prowl
    Ratchet
    Huffer

    Descepticons

    Starscream
    Thundercracker
    Skywarp

    Bombshell or clone
    Kickback or clone
    Sharpnel or clone

Thrust died but returned in season 3
Dirge died but returned in season 3
Ramjet died but returned in season 3

The fates of Windcharger,Wheeljack and Brawn are not clear. They were all last seen damaged and on the floor.

But thats it.No story confirmation of life or death.

Jazz is not on the 1986 list.
    Transformers Case Assortments

The only Autobot Cars that shipped in 1986 were Kup, Blurr and Hot Rod.
