I found an old thread showing the differences...what I'm asking is, which do you prefer? Any quality control differences? Is it simply a matter of faceplate or not for you? (and yes, I know there might be a new Takara version w/ the remolded abs coming...this is just regarding Buster).
I got the regular Buster without the faceplate. I like him more mainly because he stands out from my black and mainline release ROTF Prime with his face showing, and he looks great next to Sentinel.
I have both and I like the faceplate one more. Just because I like the faceplate better. The maskless one has white pin striping while the faceplate one has blue pin striping too. Randy
The more screen accurate one is the two pack version since the actual truck has blue pin striping. However I think the white pin striping is much more visually striking on the single release version. I ended up getting both, swapped heads and sold the 2 pack one with the face plate less head.
Blue on the real truck, white on the CGI truck and robot mode. I prefer the first version because of that but the "perfect" one IMO would be 1st version body with 2nd version head.
I don't own either, but I do like the head with faceplate. Although If you want something different, the one with the 'normal' face is standout. I do agree the white stands out more and If you can get both, swap heads and sell the other. Hey, Detroa, is it visible in the movie? Can you watch it and see the different pin stripes? Or do they fix it and put CG on the real truck? (I've never noticed it, but now i REALLY want to see it)
I don't know. I only remember it was stated in a previous Buster thread, the information came from ROTF BD or someone from the crew, I don't remember exactly. But what I do remember is watching almost frame by frame some close up robot mode Optimus scenes to confirm it to myself and yeah, it's absolutely white. I never bothered doing the same for close up vehicle Optimus scenes but you can see the blue pinstriping on the real truck in the pictures from the movie set.
I prefer the white pinstriping, just because it pops more. The exposed face has really great sculpting, but I think I prefer the battlemask. I remember mentioning that. I think I had better visual evidence last time, but you look at these: Truck/blue pinstriping: All sizes | Transformers movie Optimus Prime Autobot - Peterbilt truck at the Arclight theater in Hollywood | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Robot/white pinstriping: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers...ransformers+Revenge+of+The+Fallen_SC_0895.jpg I'm not 100% sure there is a difference, but the cg pinstriping does seem a lot brighter. Perhaps it was done because the blue pinstriping didn't render well enough.
The blue plastic? As far as I can tell. I believe the only differences are the pinstriping, the burnt effect on the gun barrel and the head mold.
Yeah the blue plastic is the same between the two Buster figures, but not either Buster with a normal RotF one. Randy
When the mask-less (is that what you boys call it?) version came on, I bought him while waiting out for the eventual masked version, thinking I'm gonna like that one more but when the 2-Pack gotten released, turned out that I prefer the mask-less version more. Found him to be uniquely unique as there wasn't many Primes that had a mouth so that factor became increasingly appealing to me. Self contradicting at times...
