Soldier rang home to propose... but left his message on my phone by mistake

This story could only be better if the woman he called was so enamoured by his message that she agreed to marry him. XD

I hope she'll receive the message and they can be together again! And true, there is really nothing funny about that story.

Wow, that is almost sadder than any downer romance movie plot could ever be. Though I do hope it has a happy ending. I hope they're able to find out who the message is actually for, though it doesn't seem like they have enough info.

Isn't there any tv-show that people watch every day and that is watched by most people in the country, where they could talk about this? I mean they show every now and then reports about cute animals in the zoo, so why not about something like this?

Good thought, Murasame. I would have thought that the daytime TV chat shows would be lining up to put this on air. I hope he gets his message to the right woman, and I hope she says yes.
And this is funny how exactly?

I was actually thinking the same thing Cal was thinking. xD

But I really do hope the message gets to the right woman and she says yes. :)

I don't see what's so sad about it.

If he can't call again for a month wouldn't that mean he can't receive a call for a month either? It's not like he's sitting there waiting for a call that won't come, it sounds like he wouldn't be able to answer the call anyway.

All this leads to is her getting the call in a month asking what her answer is and being confused as hell.

For a guy who's out there not knowing if he's going to die the next day serving his country, I'd like to think that he can get some form of happiness or stability.

Granted it's his error on dialing the wrong number but still.

I'd like to think that too, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. He's left himself waiting on an answer whether he got through or not from the sound of it.

I expect (hope) he'll be home in three months and they'll have a good laugh about it.

Now calling the wrong # again - THAT would be sad.

I find it odd that with today's communication tech the guy can't call home more than once a month, and from a phone booth no less. Seriously, army?

I don't see what's so offensive about it, I can do a lot worse than that.

What's sad about it, you ask? Well how about the fact that if he had dialed the right number he may have gotten ahold of his girlfriend, could have talked to her and proposed to her directly instead of on the answering machine of a stranger. It was a simple mistake with kinda sad consequences.

That being said, there's nothing that says it couldn't turn out okay for them. Hope he makes it back alright and it all works out.

    That's a bit of a bummer.

I bet Hollywood is already turning it into a movie.

Still not finding it that sad. No guarantee she would have answered even if the number was right. Save your sadness in a sad sack for something sad, there's no guarantee this will end badly.

I think the moral here is to not propose on an answering machine.
