I wonder, will this movie end in a cliffhanger or will it be able to stand up on it´s own?

Bay doesn't like cliffhangers. This movie will have its own set of legs.

chances are it'll all wrap nicely up by the end, but a few loose threads would be nice. Definately not wanting a Dead Mans Chest ending though.

Well, they seem to be able to balance well enough, considering it's part of their anatomy. That's like saying people fall backwards because their heels don't stick out half a foot. It's all interal balance and subtle design elements.

No, a cliffhanger would ruin it. TF1 didnt, so why should this one?

Orci has already said TF2 will not just solely be a set-up for TF3 like the Matrix and POTC pt 2s were.

That possibly means death of the main villain.

I did this thread a few months ago, consensus was that it should be made to stand on its own.

Well for those of us that wouldn't mind seeing the Autobots lose this round, being able to stand on its own doesn't seem possible.

Good guys lose = cliffhanger ending?

Hard to say since you want loose ends so there is something to go back to, but if you have too many lose ends it can be a bit of a cliff hanger. Still other film series have had second movies that didn't end of a cliff hanger so it's possible they can pull it off.

Although it would a great insider joke if the last character we see in the film is Cliffhanger so we could joke about how they lied and the movie end on a Cliffhanger.

Bay said somewhere that he hates clifhangers and I agree with him. It's a cheap way to make the audience to go ang see the third installment. This movie will have it's own 2 legs to stand

The movie will be self-contained but include a morsel or two pointing to TF3; much like the flashback to Cybertron and OPs ending speech in the first movie nodded toward the second.
