Yes, this is from a british poll, but I still think it's pretty realistic.
    Discuss.

I myself hate the Pirates movies and have not seen the Godfather or the Gladiator, so I couldn't tell.

But FOTR? Hell yes. That movie kicked all kinds of ass, ON FIRE.

You know, that's not a bad list.

Yeah, I can live with that.

I can't believe "Grease" made the list that high. I detest that film.

Since it's simply a poll, I put little stock into it. It's just a list of basically what still counts as pop culture. It's missing the bulk of fantastic cinema prior to Star Wars. The Wizard of Oz still stands as the single greatest achievement in film history. The fact that it is not on this list severely hurts it's credibility.

LOVE ACTUALLY!?? You have never heard of it?? It is like, legendary!

I'll admit first hand, I am a tomboy at heart and normally do not like chick flicks or the like, but this one? IS AWESUM and full of british wit and sarcasm!
Definitely one of my fave movies EVER.

The brit loser type who goes over to the US and meets a bunch of babe supermodels at a tacky bar is just full of LOLZ

the list being british, thats one o them intl british movies.

im aware of love actually's popularity in UK, but was not aware it was a critical hit.

for the record, while it think the film is okay, i do think it was a little too feelgoody and tried to do too much. smarmy even.

but it does have some nice bits. but the smarmy bits just egg you. it was like, they had these little nifty elements of a movie that couldve been brill on their own but they didnt have the muster nor courage so they just mixed it all together in this salad of a movie.

AND HE HAS A BIG KNOB!!!!!!!!!!

gah. wtf was that. subtle it isnt.

Definitely don't agree with it but these lists are always essentially meaningless

    People are stupid.

Not that it needed any more confirmation. Or condiments.

    Mmm condiments.

LotR the greatest film of all time? Really?

    Really?

(Take two drinks if you're playing at home)

I know there's a general disdain for movie critics and the like, but people caused Titanic to take record money at the box office. People line the pockets of the Wayans brothers to keep making movies.

    WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END?!

    Pretty Woman?

Richard Gear hires a hooker and falls in love with her.
And that's one of the top 10 greatest movies of all time.
    I said wow.

I can't see Love Actually being in the top 10, let alone the top 20. Back to the Future isnt on it, Raiders, Almost Famous...!

    Glaring omissions IMO:
    Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    The Wizard Of Oz
(have to agree with Joe on that)
    The Guns Of Navarone
    Gangs Of New York
    The Green Mile
(which I vastly prefer to The Shawshank Redemption
Four Weddings And A Funeral (if you have to put one of Richard Curtis' sub-standard post-Blackadder works on a list, at least put the really fucking funny one on there)
I wouldn't put Pretty Woman on any list, except maybe a list of massively unrealistic movies I can't stand.

LOTR?? ugh. I'm sorry but the only way I can watch those films was with the Rifftrax mocking them.

    Shawshank Redemption - Great movie
Grease - Ok movie but 10 best? Please
ET - If it is before the re-release yes.
Star Wars - Hell yes. Good movie
Pirates of the Caribbean - Great movie, but 10 best? No. 20 best maybe.. and that is from last 15 years
Pretty Woman/Love Actually - Never seen them
    The Godfather - Classic
Gladiator - Good overall, but there are far better

Needs Green Mile, Raiders, Wizard of Oz, and others.
