I'm watching it right now on a 80" or so screen with my projector. Doesn't look bad but it really shows it's age. I'm not really hearing the surround Rhino touts.

The animation is smooth and the voice acting is still terrific imo.

It was about a year ago for me. Some of it was brilliantly done, and some of it was laughable. All of it was fun :)

Been awhile, I think I need to revisit it. When the new sony release comes out and I pickup the second half of season 2 it will definately get a watch.

I'd have to agree with you on this one. I just re-watched Seasons 1 & 2 for the umpteenth time over the Christmas break, and enjoyed them. Looking back now from an adult P.O.V., some of the plots were horrible and some were not. The mistakes stand out greatly in most instances, but most of the episodes were enjoyable. I don't even bother with Season 3, which to me was/is awful. The franchise went downhill during this season, but that's just my opinion.

About four months ago. I agree with you that some of it was brilliant, but I'd have to say that the mistakes seem to be rather glaring now that I'm an adult. That goes for most of G1... when it was good it was really good, but when it was bad... oh the pain! Seriously though, when you're a five year old kid you just don't think about those things. And it was the 1980's... everything was bad in the 1980's but we thought it was great.

On a side note, I re-watched the entire series at the same time and I only found about sixteen episodes -with the majority being in seasons 1 & 2- that didn't induce either fitful laughing at the contrived plot lines or knee jerking WTFs. Still, if you look at it with an open enough mind and just enjoy it for what it is *a kids show* you'll always enjoy your experience.

One thing has always stood out in MTMTE and all of G1 in fact - the voce acting was superb, miles ahead of most newer cartoons.

I watched MTMTE a few weeks back. It's easily the best of the G1 cartoon; after that everything went downhill fast.

About 2 years ago and it's probably going to be a very long time before I watch it again; even keeping my expectations low, I was pretty disappointed.

Actually yesterday...my three-year-old pulled the set off the shelf and asked to watch it. I was like, "Sweet, here we go..."

I have to admit though...the excitement wore off and I fell asleep on the couch. Long day at work, ya know. I chalk it up to the fact that G1 is so familiar and comfortable, it just soothes my soul and allows me to really relax.

A month or so ago. I was surprised at how decent and enjoyable G1 was. I was led to believe by the movie proponents that it was all bunch of badly animated, written nonsense. But it's actually quite good. Not as good as the comics, of course.

    Series 3 is interesting too...

I haven't watched MTMTE in at least 3 years, however, I do watch other G1 episodes on a regular basis, with Season 2 probably being my favorite. Lots of good, some bad, and lots of goofy.

But isn't it oh so much more enjoyable to watch when I come over and we tear the plots to shreds? Oh yeah, we did that with Armada too.
