...Brains??? I can accept new Autobots joining Prime's team but why does Sam have a second robo-pet that everybody just seems to accept???
It's explained way better in the comics and Bay could really care less about the development or histories of newly arrived characters.
From what I've picked up from word-of-mouth, Brains is Spoiler another Decepticon intel bot, just like Wheelie. He escaped from the Decepticons prior to the movie after learning they planned to kill him, ran into Sam and the Autobots, and ended up sticking with them. Hopefully someone else will be able to elaborate more, or correct me if I've just got the completely wrong end of the stick with this.
brains was great along with wheelie, you can go with the comic prequal and say he was a con but defected just like wheelie or he tagged along with the second wave of autobots i.e. dino, que & the wreckers to earth.
He was a refugee like they said, the other bots found him at some point and let him stay. plus he is a freaking laptop and smart as can be. and sacrificed himself. what more could you want.
In a film like this, they can't really spend half an hour explaining why each new character is there and where they came from. Just accept he's there now and look for origins in the expanded canon.
He and Wheelie were the worst thing in the entire movie for me. Not to mention a gigantic plot hole. (why does Sam have another mini-bot living with him who's possibly even more annoying then the first one?) He literally served NO. PURPOSE. Every scene with Wheelie and him could be excised from the film and the only thing you'd have to change is the distraction that lets the captured Autobots turn the tables on Barricade and Soundwave.
Did anyone care about Sideswipe or Que, NO! Does anyone care about Brains, NO! No one cares about these random character's appearing out of nowhere.
how is Brains existence not a plot hole? at least in ROTF we got a "hey, new autobots arrived to help out" when they introduce Sideswipe and the triplets. who is this guy? why is he living with Sam? i don't think they even mentioned that he used to work for Shockwave did they? he was just.... there.
Brains was awesome! The duo of Brains and Wheelie was hilarious and in the end, heroic. They deserve better!
Rising Storm, mate. Not to mention the coming of the new ROTF Autobots was explained here by the Xanthium. There are plot holes in the film, that's for sure, but Brains isn't one of them
This. I love that he and Wheelie joined up and were freinds. It worked really well. 1.) Did you miss the part where Mearing explained that the second wave of Autobots came in their ship? 2.) Did you miss the parts where Brains search for information and helped Sam with linking facts to solve the space race mystery? Also, did you miss the end where it was his idea for him and Wheelie to sabotage the invasion ship, and in the end sacrifice themselves to take it down. (idk if it's confirmed, we never see them again)
I liked it that he seems to get smarter when he has a source of information to feed off of, but then just winds down as it wears off.
