I would assume not & wonder why they didn't alter his name like Primal.
He's not. In a Beast Wars episode he actually refers to G1 Megatron as his "namesake."
No just BW Megatron had G1 Megatron's name.
If I remember correctly, BW Megatron actually got his name from the Covenant of Primus, though I'm not sure if the same is for G1 Megs.
yeah, not the same person. I think Hasbro originally intended for the BW-G1 characters to be the same person. Look at BW's grimlock techspec
In Japan they are the same person right?
EDIT: Check out Grimlocks BW bio (Credit TFU.INFO)
Nope. They are most definitely not in Japan either.
Quite frankly, any potential notions that that BW Megatron and G1 Megatron were the same person were quashed once and for all once 'The Agenda' aired.
However, BW Grimlock on the other hand is G1 Grimlock.
This might not be the best place to ask this question, but what happens to the original Megatron and others from G1 in Beast Wars' era? Like where is Optimus? We know Grimlock and Star Scream are there though.
That's a tough question as Beast Wars takes place before AND simultaneously after G1. They are on Earth before 1984, but they exist from a time after G1. If you are talking about in the show we see, they are under Mt. St. Hillary (or whatever) and in season 3 we see them in the Ark as the Maximals defend it from Megatron.
If you are talking about what were the G1 guys doing just before the series starts, the story is roughly this. Cybertronian Civil War is over, won by the Autobots. Most if not all transformers have undergone a miniaturization process in order to conserve fuel. Some of the guys we know are dead, and any of the others are just not a part of the story.
Well, for one, Megatron is Galvatron
As for what happened to them, I'm assuming they died long ago. I mean, (if we aren't counting the Japanese G1 series'), Galvatron probably died at the end of the war (probably causing the Decepticons' defeat). I'm assuming Optimus died because there is a monument to him on Cybertron (seen in Beast Machines).
It's not quite canon, but the short story, The Last Days of Optimus Prime, gave us a look at what happened to Prime and Megatron in the time that followed the end of the war as the era of Maximals and Predacons was beginning to dawn. It was written by Simon Furman for an unofficial British convention, but it's tied in with the BotCon stories he was writing at the time.
Maybe the others retired some where in Florida? LOL! I can see a very old BumbleBee all rusted, growing a white beard and playing golf with Rumble. LOL!
No he's just named after him because he wants to be like him.
Sort of like Napoleon Solo or James 'Tiberius' Kirk - I suppose (laugh).
Thanks for that link, I really enjoyed reading that story.
Here is a direct link to the Comic
Its very... early internet but its cool none the less.
well technically they were the same person for a couple of episodes were BW megs had G1's spark, from a certain point of view. and to answer on the renaming. what would you of called him, i mean optimus primal thats easy, but what would you call the big bad of the Predacons who also has a giant cannon on/for a arm, i mean he is one of the few Megs after the original to even deserve the name for at least bearing a resemblance to him.
In the Beast Wars episode with Ravage in it Primal says that after the Great War was over some of the Decepticons were given amnesty and retired but a few were reformatted into Predicons. It's likely many of the Autobots would have also retired or reformated into Maximals.
They don't really give a list though of who died after the war, who retired, or who reformatted.
How far have you watched into the series, OP? I think your questions will be answered if you watch a little more...
What you said doesnt make sense.
He's implying that BW Megatron chose his name not only as a reference to the Megatron in G1, but the Megatron in the covenant of Primus. What he doesn't know is if G1 Megatron's name similarly comes from a belief that they are the one prophesized in the covenant, or if G1 Megatron's name comes from another, likely more coincidental reason in their universe.
Ok, I know the Ape and the purple Dino and not G1 Ops and Megs. My question, were the Bat and the Croc once intended to be the G1 Ops and Megs? I thnk the TV commericals at the time implied that.
Hasbro probably never even gave it that much though when they came up with batimus and crocatron.
I've always got the distinct impression they hurl a bag of toys at some writer and instruct them to write a script.
Separate names with a comma.
