Went up to Giants Stadium tonight here in Jersey for the first of 3 sold out Bon Jovi concerts. I get there, it's hot as all hell. Over 100 degrees.

I sit down and relax in the seat...long day at work. Check the watch...still a good hour and a half to two hours until Bon Jovi comes on. About 15 min. later the opening act came on. Didn't know who was opening. Turns out it was this band called Nickleback.

First off, they sounded terrible. Maybe it was their mic setup, but they were really really bad. Secondly, every single song sounded just like the others. WTF? Did they just write the music for one song, and change the lyrics each time?

Anyways, I couldn't take it anymore, and just walked around the concourse with my friend until they were off.

Finally around 8:15 the real band came on. Bon Jovi rocked hard all night. Top of their game for the first night back home. Pulled out a few gems that haven't been played in quite a few years. Only downside was the encore was cut short because the "Perfect Storm" was going on for the entire 2nd half of the show. We were literally watching the bolts of lightning in the sky instead of the lightshow on the stage. Got a little wet, but was mostly cover in my seat.

Anywho, that was my night. Now I can't wait for the 29th to see em again for the final show at Giants Stadium. This time I'll get there a little later to avoid Nickelback.

    You've never heard of Nickelback?

Pretty good band, I have a few of their albums. Probably not 80's enough for you though. ;)

I wouldn't have thought Nickleback would still be an opening act for anyone. I thought they were popular enough to be headliners.

Never been a great fan of Sticklebrick. I'd have liked to see Bon Jovi though.

Depends on who you ask (and how old you are, and other various demographics, etc.)

Bon Jovi's "Have a Nice Day," released Sept. 2005, finished #135 on Billboard's 2005 Year End sales chart.

Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons," released October of 2005, finished #63 on the same chart.

I would have done the same thing, I can’t stand Nickleback. I have left rooms when they came on the radio.

That would work if I couldn’t turn the sound off on my PC.

Ick all around on that concert, although I would have to agree, BJ should be opening for Nickleback. I can't escape hearing Nickleback on the radio, but BJ is non-existant.

Nickelback is part of what I call the "Patriot Rock" genre. I just picture their songs playing to some army montage.

It's better than "Yell Rap" though. Both exploded around the same time.

Do you just listen to 80's CDs and talk radio all the time? Cause I find it hard to believe you have been this lucky to avoid Nickelback all this time. I used to like them, then I realized the whole same music, different lyrics shtick. Actually, I never realized it till I saw this website http://www.thewebshite.net/nickelback.htm

I used to be a big Nickelback fan... but their stuff has gotten stale. I used to listen to them when they were an indie band before they made it big. Their music was WAAAAY better back then.

    I lol'd.

I got Nickelback tickets for my birthday. The singer introduced the big hit, "How You Remind Me," by actually saying into his microphone, to thousands of people who paid good money to see his band perform, "Let's just bang this last fucker out and go get drunk."

You just lost me, trailer trash.
