Right...so imagine you are a film director, you have $150 million budget to use and are told to make a kickass action movie for people aged 5 to 20.
You gonna get cars and trucks and actors that are just "normal" to look at to be in your movie, or are you gonna get creative and make things look as awesome and colorful and cool as possible?

    Yeah...thought so.

Prime with flames = Best Prime ever and is awesome.

As someone with a degree in Video Production, I can honestly tell you it wasn't.

As for Bay now including two all red vehicles. It's probably something to do with the budget. A larger budget would, theoretically, mean that they could then compensate for the issues usually associated when filming large red objects.

Maybe red is the new metal.

First movie it seemed like just about everyone was a whole lot of metal and not enough color on them.

Second movie we started getting some bright colors so Bumblebee wasn't the only bot with some color standing out in robot mode.

Now red seems to be next big thing in robot color.

Yeah, lots of trucks have those custom decos on them. Plus, Flames means Prime can be red AND blue.

It was always just a bad excuse with very limited technical merits behind it (meaning red is a little more troublesome than some colors, but it's a VERY minor problem that guys with 100 million + should have had absolutely no issue dealing with). I don't necessarily always like Bay films, but the man consistently has nice looking shots, meaning he knows his tech stuff well enough to know better.

Black and white also can present minor issues when you shoot them, but that didn't stop them from making Barricade or Ironhide those colors.

An excuse, that was pretty much it.

I really like Prime with flames. That's what made Rodimus such a cool looking leader.

I remember back in TF1 when we see Prime transform to defeat Megatron in the downtown scene, toward the climax of the film,( right before he leaps toward Megs, and holds on for a nifty ride) you can easily see how the red still looks very much animated. Now I'm sure that is all part of the past..
