So is it the general consensus that Wheeljack is the best TFP deluxe?

Is it not? It is lacking a movement that a majority fo the past ones had, and it is not just Wheeljack. It was the first thing that stuck out for me when I transformed him. Sure you can look past it, but it is something that changed on the Deluxes. Fine if it doesn't bother you, but for me it jacks up the poses you can make and is a downside. A lack of a swivel by very intent does cut back on the articulation.

Would you rather have a figure with them, or without them in general? Pretty retorical for me.

Fair enough, that is too bad. Sorry, going off the usual scalper stuff people complain about.

Again, he's talking about Wave 1, so put that Ratchet away.
This is ONE TOY without a minor point of articulation. That does not mean articulation is being cut back for the line.

Current wave is wave 2.

Retail is where where I got my Ratchet. Target. Target is also where another one of the Portland, Oregon collectors got his Ratchet.

Minor? In the world of action figures, which Transformers do fall into, bicep articulation is rather major. Check out what kind of poses Ratchet can do. I dare you to replicate Ratchet's poses with Wheeljack. Oh wait, you can't, 'cuz he ain't got no bicep swivel.

Are they out anywhere else but Target?

You have a point, but he can still swivel his wrists. It may not look as good as a bicep swivel, but it's a decent substitute.

Hardly matters. Wave 2 may not have reached full saturation yet, but it's out in retail, and thus it counts by default.

Hardly a decent substitute at all. Again, you cannot replicate any poses that Ratchet can do with Wheeljack due to the lack of bicep swivel. There are times where there is just no substitute for a bicep swivel.

Whatever, it doesn't mean his articulation is terrible though.

I don't think he's terrible, but it's necessary articulation that really prevents him from being awesome. Let's say Wheeljack was holding a gun, he couldn't do the two hand carry for a rifle like even RID Arcee can. She can carry her BFG like any good soldier would...hand on the trigger and grip, other hand supporting the rifle up front. All because of her bicep articulation. Well, in her case an elbow ball joint.

Stacked up to Arcee, Ratchet, and even Soundwave, all have either bicep swivels or an elbow ball joint, the deficiency introduced without that area of articulation is painfully obvious. Being a character that uses two swords, it sucks because you can't do poses like this due to a lack of bicep articulation.

It really sucks because the rest of the figure is pretty awesome. Rocker style ankles due to the ball joint, upper thigh swivel, knee joint with a huge range of motion, ball joint at the wrist, it could've been so awesome even without a waist swivel.

To be fair, if Wheeljack had a gun, it'd probably be an arm cannon which he wouldn't need to hold with two hands, but I digress.

I'd say DriftJack and Soundwave are the best of the Deluxe Prime toys so far (though I like the RID version of Cliff as well honestly)

    IMHO

    PRIDE:
    Soundwave > Wheeljack > Cliffjumper > Bumblebee

but not a single one of them are "bad" toys, each are actually pretty damn fun.

I think I actually even like PRIDE Bee more than FE. I'll wait to get PRIDE Arcee before I compare her to the FE.

Maybe in your area, but on these shores, the current wave is Wave 1.

For sure, narrowly beating out Soundwave. Both take a slight back seat to FE Statscream though. For people bitching about the whole FE vs. RiD thing, they work together just fine.

    Yes.
It appears all the characters who weren't already a FE are great while the ones who were are shit.
And you could buy some Con reprolabels to put on him if you really wanted to.

Are you another one of those who think toys suck just because they aren't as good as the first version?

You're missing the big picture. Hasbro short pack it, then send their store-liasons out to buy them, thereby coaxing us into buying Bumblebee instead.
