So if Victory were translated for the US, how about these names?

I often wonder about what would happen to the names of the Transformers: Victory characters if indeed Hasbro ever localized it. Obviously names like "Breast Force" aren't going to fly, and names with "Death", "Hell", "Kill" etc in them are a no-no, as well as names that don't really have a translated meaning ("Gai", "Zack" etc) and names that make no sense ("Blacker", "Laster" etc). These are the ideas I've had for a while:

    Blacker: Blocker
    Laster: Lightspeed
    Braver: Brave Run
    Breast Force: Beast Force
    Leozack: Leoblade
    Gaihawk: Icehawk
    Killbison: Firebison
    Hellbat: Hypnobat
    Deathcobra: Dark Cobra
    Ginrai: Optimus Prime (Obviously.)
Victory Leo: Victory Prime (Why have so many "Leos".)
Deathsaurus/Deszarus: Dessarus (Hasbro almost released a robot hero with the name.)
    Dinoforce/Dinoking:
Monstructor, with all the individual names.
    Holi, Boater, Pipo and Fire:
Stakeout, Seawatch, Fixit and Red Hot, like the U.S. toys.
    Tacker: Tracker

All of the other names would probably fly over here. What do you guys think?

i already like the names Gripper and stuff

    I like the Killbison

    and stuff......

I also enjoy how in HM the Headmasters sound all British, except for stupid sht like Billy as Blaster, the accents add to that epic for me.

And I love Galvatrons gravelly voice

Oh I know, this is pure fantasy. But if shown in America, you know he'd be called Optimus Prime. I mean, Powermaster Optimus Prime/God Ginrai, etc.

As for Gripper, I don't know about that name. That's almost as weird as the originals. And wasn't Braver called simply "Flame" or something?

Laster probably wouldn't be called Lightspeed, there's already a Technobot with that name.

I know, I just thought it might be a good doubling up on that name. What else could we call him? Lightracer? Is that taken?

Didn't Madman already translate it? *glares at Madman* I seriously hate the dubbing they did! I actually had to put it back into the Japanese just so that I wouldn't have to hear their bad translations! UGH!

And they still call God Ginrai Optimus Prime! Stupid Madman!

They didn't do the dubbing, that was just put on there because people said they wanted the dub.

A lot of the names I don't see any point in changing, the Dinoforce particularly, the names they were given sound like Japanese monster names so I think kids would get them ok, breastforce would have to be changed obviously but I don't think the individual names need changing unless they're possibly offensive, besides, they are evil.

Ginrai would and should never be referred to as Optimus Prime either, he just looks like him.

Hasbro should adress every robot in that series as 'Billy' and 'Wally'.

Some series are better left un-dubbed.

Like Storm said. They didnt dub it. The dub originated from a Hong Kong company who 'translated' it and dubbed it and showed it in Asian countries like Singapore. Mad Man just included it because fans wanted it.

While the Madman released DVDs had the dubbed English version, Madman themselves did not dub it. The dub is the original StarTV dub from the 1980s. The dubbing is horrible, yes, and sounds like 2 guys did all the voices, but its not Madman.

The StarTV dubed version was aired in Malaysia (RTM1 and TV3), which some Singapore homes are able to receive at the time, but never aired on a Singapore channel. I heard that the Philippines also got the StarTV dubbed version.

    What the man said.

There is lies the problem and why Hasbro would likely require him to be called Optimus prime. Hasbro would think people would see Ginrai and think Optimus prime then see his name is something else and get confused. of course this would never be the case with true fans but Hasbro would want to avoid potential confusion in the market place.

That said I agree they are two different Transformers.

Victory is kind of a sequel to Masterforce. It doesnt make much sense dubbing Victory but not Masterforce. If Masterforce was dubbed then it would make more sense why Ginrai is not Optimus.

Eh? Isn't Masterforce all about humans wearing transforming power armor, while Victory is about actual Transformers?

Half true. There are still actual 'transformers' in there and the Trans tectors come to life at the end and take on the names of the humans that used them.

But I say again, he's already been released as Powermaster Optimus Prime. They've already done it, I know they're two different guys, but in the fantasy scenario that this ever happened, you know that's what he'd be called.
