    I'm guessing converting Cybertronian money to US dollars is a bit of a bitch. Can't recall seeing on the currency rate lists at the airport before...

    Another theory: They cons are impatient. They may have figured that Sam would have delayed shipment every week due to "things" coming up. They wanted the glasses "NOW".

    Cons are impatient? While that is true I believe the Autobots, Optimus in particular were being quite impatiend at Sam's house

    But then, we wouldn't of gotten any explosions? No Autobots. It would be too easy, like stealing from a baby, or the film would have been shorter, like only 30 minutes long.

    Besides, Hollywood would never let that happen.

    I think it was a case of everyone kept going to the writers wanting to put something into the film and in that crazy mix of having too many people throw stuff in they missed the whole thing of hey Decepticons are evil and e-Bay is evil so why wouldn't they rob some little old lady of her social security check and just buy the glasses. I know the movie Decepticons are pretty incompetent but I'm sure they could handle a mugging.

    it would still take time for the auction to end and it to be shipped somewhere though, it was probably quicker for them to just go after Sam directly

    Probably because the Decepticons only came to Earth recently in the first movie. As I said before, they're the bad guys; they don't care about filthy fleshbag currency, they just wanted the glasses to lead them to the Allspark and Megatron.
