    I find this bewilderingly funny.

I played a game of escalation with a random group. We all seemed competent. The healer did a good job, I kept Swindles ammo beacon up as often as possible. We worked well and cleared all 15 waves.

Afterwards one of the guys sends me a message on Xbox Live saying something to affect of "good game. Read my profile and if it doesn't show let me know."

Being an unusual message I decide to check out the guys profile. I expect to see something about selling something online or a clan recruitment thing. Nope. It's a huge bible quote. Something about repenting sins.

I literally laughed out loud. If someone wants to believe something, that's their call. And when someone starts quoting scripture at me, I politely tell them to come back with scientific proof.

But this is the first time I've been preached to in a game.

Wow... Just had to share. I know this will likely get locked because OMG RELIGION! but I just had to laugh at the absurdity of preaching to someone in a video game.

Some 'bot was telling me how great and powerful Primus is. Ugh.

OT: I really don't see the big deal. I'm sort of religious in a way that I believe, but I'm not the kind to preach it, nor do I even go to church or pray that much, and I respect other peoples beliefs (or lack of beliefs). Maybe that's why if someone showed me a quote from the bible I wouldn't be that appalled.

I'm not appalled, I'm just surprised. It seems a video game would be a horrible place to preach. It's akin to someone preaching to you at a urinal. It's just weird.

Funny that you say that, my cousin used to talk with people about God all the time on xboxlive heh. You'd be surprised how many people don't mind talking it during a game or after

I don't really see it as that awkward myself, but I can see other people maybe finding it strange.

    *shrug*

I don't really see the problem. He asked you nicely to look at what was on his profile and you did.

Whether you agree with what was quoted there or not is beside the point. A lot of people are happy in their religious beliefs and want to spread the joy.

You didn't get hatemail, were not harassed, and didn't see or read anything vulgar.

Seeing as how 90% of the people on XBL are complete assclowns I would welcome such and unexpected diversion.

Honestly, I agree with this. He seemed like a nice guy who probably just enjoyed playing with you and decided to send you a message to check something out. It's not even preaching, really.

    that's easy.

Just put up a verse about the ancient quintessons
then the divine circle council of Primes
and the divinity of the cybertronian continuity
the holy energon revitalizes all intellectual beings

Except it not. If he was spammed with voice msgs or invited to a party chat and the guy were to shove his views down his throat then yeah. But all it was was a request to look over a bible quote.

I say tomato. You probably say tomato too, but some some people say tamato.

I don't find it that strange, being of the faith myself. He was merely asking you if he came across as reflecting his faith or not. That's what I get from the message he sent you, not really preaching if you ask me

Guys people shouldn't really do this though what if a kid got preached? It could cause a lot of problems between the family.
