...and I'm not too impressed. Everybody cries and moans about how much IE sucks and Firefox is God, but FF is pretty confusing and not very convenient. In IE, when I wanted to open a new tab I just opened my favourites and hit the little arrow next to TFW or Youtube or whatever, and it would open in a new tab and I didn't even have to leave the tab I was in. In FF, I have to hit file, open a tab, select that tab and THEN open whatever. And what's worse, the other users on my computer can't access their mail from FF like they could from IE.

    Also, spellchecker is annoying.

Should I go back to IE, or just tough it out with FF? Am I missing something blatantly obvious? I still have IE, I'm just not using it right now.

FF is good for one thing and one thing only, visiting sites where you're likely to get virtually raped along with getting some computer STD's. Its like the internet condom.

I feel its overrated, but has its needs.

I am used to this, not that. That is weird.

    Stick with it.

    Fixed.

As for the tabbing stuff (and pretty much anything else) - just get an extension/add-on. There's about a million of them to make FF do whatever you want it to do.

ctrl+B brings up bookmarks, right click on a bookmark and open in new tab. ctrl+T also opens a new blank tab. you should have a dig around in the preferences to see what else you can change. Firefoxes greatness comes in the form of add-ons imo, you can modify it beyond recognition.

I hate IE because microsoft ignores web standards making my job harder than it needs to be. most people only use it because it comes with windows and your average user doesn't know any better.

I'm pretty sure there's an options setting to change this. I THINK I know what you're talking about, and it's not a problem that I have, and I'm pretty sure I just adjusted a "tabs" setting and it was fixed.

For the New Tab thing, that is only for the first one. After that, you can just right-click and choose New Tab. Or just Ctrl+T. And what kind of email are you trying to access that won't open in FF? Exchange (2007 at least) and all of the freemail services I know of work fine...

And for the bookmarks thing, just Right click on the Bookmark and Open in New Tab. It's really not that difficult. If you want something actually "Different" try using Opera.

I'm not one to call any web browser "God", but in my personal experience, I've found Firefox to be faster than IE.

I do think that the Adblock Plus add-on is the greatest thing ever though. Disabling ads and unnecessary background scripts goes a long way in making browsing faster and more enjoyable.

Maybe I should clarify, TFW and TOYARK are not misspells. That's what annoys me.

It's windows mail. All their folders and stuff is in it. That's the only problem.

I found the whole usage of FF to be a pain on my Mac - but I adjusted. I just discovered Camino so I'm back to an IE feel. I only use FF when I have to (mostly to get to sites that say there's a problem with my browser, like Hotmail or some Windows Media sites).

For my purposes, Firefox does everything I want it to.

Screw tabs, I open everything in a new window.

So, as far as browsers go: IE and Firefox 3 are horrible. Firefox 2 will always have a place in my heart, and on my harddrive.

Well technically they ARE misspells - but like smang said, just add them to the dictionary and you never have to deal with them again.

You can open a new tab in FF by pressing ctrl>t. All my favorites are at the top of the screen.

Firefox is the only thing that kept me from shooting my computer. All in all everyhting has some up or down Firefox has alot more up's. :O)
The idea of shooting my computer almost became a reality. I was going to bring a couple of buddies in and we were going to shoot it with a 40cal just to see what would happen. XD

If you know how words are spelled, you can just ignore the suggestion to change. And when I customize my FF, I put the "New Tab" button to the left of the forward and back buttons.

Really, tough it out still, and I guarantee you you'll be a converter.

I like it. I like that it is almost dummy proof protection for my parents' computer- they don't like to know more than how to turn a PC on and type- and it is simple to use.
