    I had this open space:

So I decided to build some shelves. My stepdad has a saw mill, so the lumber was free. The tree grew right outside my old bedroom at my mom's. Total I'm out about $40 for the hardware.

Here is a fresh pic with 90% of my collection on the shelves. So, what do you guys think?

BTW, this was super easy to do. All you need is the supplies, a stud finder, and an electric drill.

Edit: here is a pic of the poster(courtesy of SamiWCP) I just put up on the ceiling over the collection.

Great use of an empty wall! Looks very good too (and an nice collection :)  ). Only thing, they'll gather dust easily.

And do I see a GCN and a DC in the pics ? :p

Very nice shelves. I like the length of the shelves, what are they 8ft? You just inspired me for a good idea.

Wow...you cut down your own tree...unless it was a safety hazard...I would have left the tree for aesthetic reasons and just bought the lumber...would not have been that much...but none the less you ended up with some nice shelves...

I'll be over later to get those reissues second to the bottom shelf... :)

Yep! I use the Dreamcast for Emulation, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. :)

    Nope, 10ft.

My plan is to put it on the ceiling. So if your satnding in front of the shelves and look up, there it is. We'll see though. If that doesn't work out, I have another spot.

Well, my stepdad is building a garage, so the tree had to go. I just asked him for lumber at the right time. :)  Besides, there's no shortage of trees on their property. They live on wooded 40 acres.

    Thanks for the compliments guys.

    Mike

I only wish I could get wood for free. I spent a fortune on my shelves and they are only 1/3 complete. I have to wait until I get some money together to finish them. If I swing down to Louisville could ya hook me up? I got a shinny transformer for ya..........

    oooh, shiny! :D

I may be able to hook you up, but it's really up to my stepdad. I'll ask him and see if he has any more lumber cut up or if he's planning on cutting some more.

I need to build another two set of shelves like the one on the left. I am going to replace the one on the right and the one on the back wall.

Dude, those are sweet. I've got the same type of shelving in my toy room, though, each of my shelves are only 4 feet long, as the window in the middle of the wall prevents me from putting in anything longer. Very impressive, and they result in a nice clean presentation that isn't too expensive or difficult to set up.
